."So much is new and complex today that looking back for an understanding of the past provides little guidance for living in the present.

In modern society, the urgent issue that our people want to focus on is that with the development of economic and society, more and more crisis have been harrassing human’s daily lives. Even though there are more and more measures taken by the governments to address those problems, people still seems to be suspicious about the policies which always adopted by the former generations. However, we can not neglect the importance of the past experience, since there are still many reasons for us to solve new and complex issues today with an understanding of the past.

In spite of today’s social understanding is different from the past’s, we should admit the fact that all the modern breakthroughs largely lie on the persperation and insperation of the former researches in every field and every subjects such as mathmatics, physics and sociology,etc. Take the 2008 Nobel Prize for example, Roger Y. Tsien was awarded the 2008 Nobel Prize in chemistry for his discovery and development of green fluorescent protein with two other chemists, while people never forget that his successful discovery was based on the researches made by a bus driver who had been a chemist. Further more, in the spiritual field such as the creation of fictions, movies and musics, there are also still a forceful faith that the masterpieces should be created for the purpose that they would be better than the former ones.

It’s true that we enjoy the harvest of modern life which is made by lots of generations, but we can not envolve in the great sweetness of the superficial happiness. We should figure it out that the understanding of the past not only provides us useful experience, but also the painful lessons of history. History is a mirror. Why the United Nation advocates the tow themes PEACE and DEVELOPMENT? Is this a vain hardship for scholars to study and teach history? The answer is obviously NO. As we know that the threat of war is still haunting on our mind,the realities of the wars are always the animosities of political entities and not the citizens’choices. In oder to live in a prosperous and harmonious world, we should know the passive effects of the horrible things and try our utmost to avoid the selfish political interest and international unfair bias.

I have to propose my last but not least viewpoint that if we stupidly don’t take the understanding of the past into consideration, we would confront large numbers of triky trifles in our lives. We find the beautiful minds in the history as well as catch the vigor from learning the way they live and the value they pursue. We feel the sagacious thoughts made by the wits as well as practice them in our quotidian lives.
Only by investigating the past, can we find a proper angle to see ourseles.

All in all,as what I say above,the issue about the relationship between the past and today is of significance. Because of the limited recognition of human beings, and because of the long history of human races, we have to face the problems today , looking back the past, and then live a better life tomorrow.
