Issue 38 "In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books."
In the modern society, people would get different informations from plenty of varioussources such as books, televisions ,magazines, computers, and so on. In the issue,去掉 the author asserts that reading books becomes less important than television since people can learn from television as much informations 去掉as books. However,in my opinion, no matter how society develops, reading books is always the best way to learn knowledge, and the quantityquality? of informations from TVs and books which people learned 去掉canmay not be the same.
At first, I must admit the television has greatly influenced people's lives. In the television. There are a lot ofvarious kinds of informations which people can not learning them all simply through reading books. For example, we can learn different culture and arts from the channel of travel, the recent sutuations of politics, economic and wars from program of news, and a lot of scientific knowledges from introduction of science. Comparing with boring and heavy books, the televisions are more interesting with the colorful appearance and more attractive with the visual feelingappealling to eyes. Moreover, in order to suit all the audiences' interests and levels, the directors would try best to make the informations as simple as possible to be understood. So that the televisions always have more fans than books. Such phenomenon causes some people blindly think that the books are no longer more important than televisions.
However, people can not learn as much by watching TV as they can 去掉 by reading books. Because the TV programs suffer from a series of limits such asby audience, time, and social effect, so the background ,depth and width of informations would be restricted too. The informations that the TV provides can be regarded as the generalization or a small去掉 part of some books. For instance, considering about all ages of audiences, a scientific program can not teach students all knowledges of physics or chemistry what would learn in textbooks; and in a short time, a archeological program can not tell us the whole history of the world. If all people study on television instead of by reading books, then all people's level of culture and knowledge are the same. 不对,如同人们选择不同的书来阅读,人们也选择不同的电视节目看。The result would be that the students have not teachers to help them progress, the society loses the experts of every field, the scientific development have to stop forever. 这句也有问题,书本才是老师,那老师的作用呢?In addition, the audiences seems have not enough independent rights to choose what kind of information to know, what time to learn and how manymuch informations to study. 表达不清楚They have to learn the knowledge what the television want to tell them rather than what we really want to know. Consequently, if you want to learn more abundant去掉 and deeper informations去掉, reading books is a better way.
Furthermore, a part of informations brought by televisions would cause many negative effects to audiences , since not all informations of TV programs are true and correct. The same as books...We should realize the television stations are not the charity and educational institution, they always consider the profits first by create a program. For this purpose, the condition that a few of informations are trustless can be accepted. Sometimes for the purpose of attracting people's interests and raising the profits, directors usually create some imaginary plots in the historic movies, such behaviors would misguide people's understanding of history. Many recreational programs provide some informations like violence and sex which are seriously harmful to the growing of children. If people expect to get benefits through watching TV, they should watch TV programs and absorb the informations selectively.
To sum up, watching TV is indeed a benefitial and effective way to extend people's view and knowledge, but it is a wrong assertion that reading books is no longer important. And televisions can not provide all informations in books, so if one want to learn more knowledge, reading books is the better way than watching TV.
information, audience没有复数形式,就不一一改了。
这篇issue在提到书的时候说的好像是课本,片面提高了书的权威性,贬低了电视的多样性,就简化了问题本身的复杂性。当然,我的文章也有类似的问题。 |
