8月24作业:
这是独立写作的第一篇哦~
Should young people try several different jobs before they take a long term career, as the author asserts? My answer is definitely yes.
Firstly, the experience of different jobs is precious, which may be an advantage for competing in the future. Take my friend Crystal, who is a manager in a hotel currently, as an example. Before her current job, she tried English tour guide. During that period she not only improved her English skills, but also learned how to get along with people and how to respect people, which is beneficial for her current career.
Secondly, it is highly possible that a young person can know where his interests lie only after trying different jobs. As young people, not experienced and mature, they always have no idea that they are interested or have talents in which kind of job. Only after several trials and much experience can they make sure of their ideal job. Consider Lu Xun, a famous Chinese writer, as an example. He studied medicine in Japan and became a doctor. Then he quitted the job and worked as a writer. Now we know he is undoubtedly successful. Just imagine if he did not have changed his job, the numerous good works would have disappeared. And personally, as a graduate, I am confused about my future and it is difficult for me to determine my life-long career now. However, I believe I could find my ideal job after trying several different jobs.
Last but not least, trying several different jobs is beneficial for young men to build up broad social relations. Nowadays, social relation is a key factor to success, as we need to use different and large amount of social resources to accomplish a big project. My teacher, Chu Jian, combines scientific progresses in our university with industry and practical use, which is undoubted successful. One reason for his success is that he worked in a famous electronic company before he became a professor, which leads he has many friends who are very proficient and help him a lot.
I tend to agree with the issue not only for the reasons above, but for others like wider scopes to look at the world and more money. Taking all these factors into consideration we may safely draw the conclusion that young people should try several different jobs before that take a long term career.

(09.02.21 NA) Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Newspapers and magazines are the best ways to learn about a foreign country.

Are newspapers and magazines the best way to learn about a foreign country, as the author asserts? In a sense, I tend to agree that newspapers and magazines, as mass media, can help us get knowledge of the culture, politics and history of a foreign country. However, the conclusion that newspapers and magazines are best ways is open to doubt.
To begin with, I admit that Newspapers and magazines can show particular aspects of a foreign country, such as politics, religion and culture. In France, there are large amount of fashion magazines, introducing the fashion trends all over the world, which reflects that French are in pursuit of fashion. So, it is not surprised to find Paris is the paradise for purchasers. As newspapers and magazines are written by people in a certain country, their cultural beliefs and living habits are inevitably included in these periodicals.
However, newspapers and magazines have their own limits. With the process of globalization, the contents in newspapers and magazines are similar worldwide, thus fail to demonstrate the characteristics of a certain country. Let us look at daily newspapers, which is popular worldwide. Apart from different languages, the contents in these newspapers are similar, which record the important events all around the world. Besides, as the views expressed in newspapers and magazines are only the reflection of reporters’ belief rather than public’s. As far as I am concerned, it is hasty to draw the conclusion that we can learn many things about a foreign country through local newspapers and magazines.
Moreover, there are better ways to help us learn about a foreign country, for example: festivals. Christmas, one of American famous festivals, helps us learn about the religion beliefs of Americans. Also, take Chinese New Year as an example. Chinese set off fire crackers and have dumplings with family during the festival, which indicates not only a custom, but also the emphasis on family bonds. What’s more, local famous few help us learn about a foreign country. Consider Obama, the present American president, as an example. His speech which claims Americans need a change prevails in the world, which indicates the spirit of working hard and making innovations in America.
Taking all these factors into consideration we may safely draw the conclusion that newspapers and magazines are not the best way to learn about a foreign country.

(09.02.27NA)Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? A job with more vacation time but a low salary is better than a job with a high salary but less vacation time.

Is a job with more vocation time but a low salary better than a job with a high salary but less vocation time, as the author asserts? It appears, in so many aspects, very difficult to prefer one to another, because all of them have advantages and disadvantages. However, personally, I would choose a job with a high salary but less vocation time.
Admittedly, I concede that a job with more vocation time has certain merits, which should not be ignored. With more vocation time, families can get together and enjoy sweet family moments. With more vacation time, lovers can go out traveling and have romantic memory. With more vocation time, people can improve their health condition, such as speed, strength, agility and flexibility, by doing sports. As far as I am concerned, a job with more vocation time can let us enjoy our life and have a good mood.
However, as a young man, short of money, I am in desperate need of some savings for my future developments, interests and hobbies. Consider my friend Crystal as an example. She had worked in a famous machine company with a rather high salary for almost 10 years. Then she used her savings to start her own career, which is undoubtedly successful currently. If I have a job with a low salary, it is highly possible that I don’t have enough money to purchase my own house and to carve out a personal career in the future. What’s worse, I may not have the financial ability to survive myself, which is shameful.
Moreover, people can get more chances to develop if having a job with a high salary. As we know, a high salary is a good indicator of one’s knowledge, competing ability and experience. Obviously, the salary of a professor is higher than a teacher in middle school. People with a high salary are considered outstanding, who have more chances to get promoted.
In conclusion, though it is hard to choose among a job with more vacation time and a job with a high salary, I prefer a job with a high salary personally, which is beneficial for my future developments.

09.05.30NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Younger school children (age’s five to ten) should be required to study art and music in addition to math, science, history and language.
Should younger children be required to study art and music, as the author asserts? As far as I am concerned, younger children should study not only math, science, history and language but also art and music, which help children to discover talents and appreciate beauty.
Admittedly, younger school children should study math, science, history and language. Math and language are basic skills for children, which help them to deal with daily things in the future. Science reveals mysterious phenomena and helps us to understand the world we live in, such as the formation of mountains and lakes, the motion of objects and the classification of animals. History is an essential aspect of a nation’s culture and key value system. As a famous man says, history makes people wise. Mistakes of the past can teach us as a society how to avoid repeating those mistakes. For example, the lessons learned from all of the past wars can contribute to a more effective wartime leadership by avoiding mistakes ever made by past commanders.
Secondly, art and music ought to be learned by younger school children. By learning art and music, some children’s talents in art may be discovered. Consider Mozart as an example. The great composer could play piano three years old and write score even four years old. If Mozart didn’t have received music education, the talents of the great composer would have been buried. Besides, through learning art, children may observe the world and then use their splendid imagination to express their feelings and thoughts, helping them to form the habit of thinking. Moreover, children can learn how to appreciate beauty and aesthetics. For example, children who learn painting may know how to match color.
Last but not least, there are many aspects and ways provided by arts that can educate children, such as movie, literature, paintings, which may call interests of children. The movie 2012 reminds children of environmental protection. With the development of technology, the pollution is more and more severe. If nations as well as common people ignore the changes in climate and environment, the coming of 2012 is inevitable. Then children may have a sense that they should save water or recycle rubbish to protect our earth.
Taking all these factors mentioned above into consideration, we may safely draw the conclusion that art and music are as significant as math, science, history and language, since children should have overall development.
