The best way for a society to prepare its young people for leadership in government, industry, or other fields is by instilling in them a sense of cooperation, not competition.【claims】

What quality of a leader in government, industry, or other fields is more important, a sense of cooperation or competition? I fundamentally agree with that cooperation and competition are equally important quality for leadership in most fields such as government and industry, although in some other certain fields, competition is more important.
It is understandable and true that some people believe that the sense of competition is more important than the sense of cooperation in some certain fields. In sports games which are played by a single player as a unit, it might be more likely that competitive sense is more important. Chess, for example, is a game played as 1 vs 1. The player should be competitive so that he could more likely win the game.
However, cooperation and competition are both important in most fields. Government, for example, is a field requiring the leader to be both competitive and cooperative. On the one side, towards outside of the country, the leader should show his/her competitive side and lead the country to be competitive in the world. On the other side, towards inside of the country, the leader might be cooperative so that he/she could rule and gear all parts of the society to run fluently together. And industry and most other fields are the similarly cases. Only if the field is played more than a single person as a unit, both cooperation and competition are important.
Actually, the best way is to knead the sense of cooperation and competition together. The history is filled with examples how a leader is competitive and cooperative at the same time. Deng Xiaoping, for instance, is one of the best leaders in Chinese government history. He is competitive when he negotiated with other countries on international meetings. Meanwhile, he is cooperative when he dealt with the problems inside the country.
In sum, the sense of cooperation and competition make a most effective and powerful leadership together.
