To tell the truth, there is not much funding for education school. You would be very lucky if you get financial aid for the first year. The education system is quite different, and thinking. You can imagine native students have more advantage in job market. Assistanships usually go to curent students and those who can come for interview.
It's not easy to get a job after graduation. Well, Ph.D can do research or teach in colleges. math and science teachers are in great demand. special education (disability) is well funded.
psychology is popular among American students. This year our school plans to recruit 6-7 Ph.D in Counseling psychology and received 200-300 application.
Do not apply for leadership or administration. Alot of students in this program have over 10 years teaching experience and plan to be principal or district superintendent. The system is so different that there's no job for Chinese and what you learn will not do you much good if you plan to go back.
