In recent years, college students in an increasing number prefer to some easy courses accessible to higher marks rather than some difficult ones, which seems to reflect that students are eager for quick success and instant benefit nowadays. However, in my opinion, it is not desirable to just attach great importance on the scores. On the contrary, only by attending some complex classes can one truly benefit a lot. The reason are listed as follows
First, difficult classes are conducive to expanding one's scope of knowledge. Generally, complex courses are often associated with something that students are not familiar with or hard to tackle. But to look at it another way, the easy classes are only intended to provide students with a great deal of background knowledge that they have to cover. Therefore, it is essential for one aimed to have a broad general knowledge and know sufficiently well the subject matter of his field to choose some difficult classes.
Second, one can improve his ability through attending the complex course. The demanding class not only takes into account the analytical capability but also puts the emphasis on how to overcome adversity without ever losing his optimism in the difficult lesson. In that case, after one has gotten through the trouble times, his ability to analyze and solve problems will be enhanced anyway.
Last but not least, a better awareness of understanding the meaning and value of one’s study and life is expected to be promoted. The main purpose for the college student is not just in the pursuit of high grades, but the application of his present knowledge. As a result, the fundamental knowledge of the easy lesson is far from enough. To integrate theory and practice, the difficult course is indispensible.
In summary, considering the expansion of one’s view, the capacity improvements and ideological commitment, a student at university or in college is supposed to choose more difficult classes, instead of being a grade-oriented student.
