19. Governments should focus on solving the immediate problems of today rather than on trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position
Government is facing with massive issues every day, national and international, while they only have limited energy and budgets. How to deal with the thousands issues efficiently and effectively, the government has to decide to focus on solving the immediate problems or the anticipated ones of the future. Although, some issues happen immediately, such as hurricane and flood, have to be solved with hesitate, only putting the current problems into consideration is a kind of escaping from responsibilities.
First of all, the unthought issues may cause severe problems in the future. For instant, when Japanese government decided to solve their energy crisis with building the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, they ignored to make a emergence plan to deal with the nuclear explosion. The nuclear disaster, one of only two classified as a level 7 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale (the other being the Chernobyl nuclear disaster), made numerous Janpanese under the risk of nuclear radiation, the influence even spread to some neighbor country by wind and sea. After the disaster in 2011, not only Janpan but many other countries over the world began to think more seriously about building nuclear plants. The other issues, like environment and energy, also require to be solved with further sight. If we do not make a balance with develop and environment, the pollution we make today would bring disasters to our offspring in the future.
In addition, the long-term issues which could not be solved in a short period, needs governments to put attentions sustainably. As fostering a child until they grown up takes a long time. So do the governments on education issue. Education, one of the most significant problems of a country, is related to the nation's future. Even though making great efforts on it would not make obviously profits back, keeping on make proper budgets on education is more a responsibility than an obligation. On the other hand, the issues which could not be solved in a short time are the main factors relevant to the steady of governments in most situations, like social prevent profits.
Finally, there is a possibility that the governments which only dealing with the immediate problems, have only one goal to make promote without thinking about the future. The limited period leads to limited responsibility. Without taking a response with the future problems, the governments concern about immediate interests, which making the follower to consider the problems they leave. It would become a vicious circle, leaving problems remain unsolved from
one government to another.
To conclude, it is necessary for government to solve the emergence issues, but force on the future develop is essential for the country. Sometimes, immediate problems should be put asides since a sustainable development is much more important than a fast one.
