Issue 87
In any field of inquiry, the beginner is more likely than the expert to make important discoveries.
Are those newcomers in any domain of inquiry superior to those connoisseurs to discover and to achieve? 这种开头真是恶俗阿] To some extent, the author's assertion makes sense, since both novice [这个是名词] inspiration and unrestrained minds facilitate [five thumbs up!] the beginners to try adventurous methods and challenge authorities. However, in a perspective about history of science and human knowledge, by no means can we ignore and deny the contribution as well as accomplishment from those experts. Thus, I cling to the belief that both of the naive [这个词用的不准确~因为你没有定义新手老手] and experienced share apposite [我想问问你“适合的”你还归纳了那几个单词阿] opportunity towards world-startling [从哪里看回来的这个词 呵呵~google搜索有339条记录~] discoveries.
To begin with, we may undoubtedly find merit with those energetic and vibrant thought and sparks exuding from those "freshmen" who have just entered the pantheon [靠。。。 。。i-startling] of academic world. Being free from the experience and set thinking modes, the absence of such constraint actually bestow [互相学习阿~哈哈~] them the very [我也喜欢放在名词前面~不过到底虾米意思涅] ability to create, to inquire, to take ventures, which ultimately lead to unprecedented breakthroughs. One of the most influential discoveries, the verified structure of DNA double helix serves aptly to illustrate how science benefits from beginners [问题来了~你如何证明后者两位are beginner? age? experience? or others? Crick and Watson, being nobodies in the realm of life science, applied apparatus intended for physics usage to analyze inner fabric of cellular nucleus, which was regarded as whimsical and ridicules by orthodox biologists at the time. Yet they succeeded and stunned the world.
Another advantage granted to the newcomers lies in their willingness to challenge authoritative establishment. When the awe and conviction to authority and widely accepted theories prevails in research and exploration of academic connoisseur and bog them down in the mood of doctrine and so-called orthodoxy, beginners on the other hand simply seldom buy in. Their naive [有点贬的感觉 哈哈~] minds open to all kinds of ideas and theories, may [这句子没看懂~倒装?什么的倒装?] they be authorities or not. Easily can those, heterodox, however [不错~插得好] actually enlightening ideas be accepted by those with fresh thought, thus empower [哈哈~~] them to the hidden truth, truth that being shadowed by establishments [同位语? . Tycho, though being regarded contributing significantly to astronomy, remains merely an achivist [你比喻什么~泰深奥了~没看懂] of stars, for he totally worship the unquestionable Ptolemaic system at that time. Yet young Kepler, [哇靠~这个我认识,上面那个人你从哪里看来的哦] while working as assistant for him, found merit with heliocentric theory. Finally he was able to deduced three laws of planet's motion, base on what Tycho has recorded and devoted throughout his life. Yet, today most of us consider Kepler as scientific giant but merely appreciate the contribution of his master Tycho, an expert with detachment.
Nonetheless, the naive thoughts and vibrant brevity alone leads to nothing. Pure whimsical ideas or imprudent provoking accepted theories pale when it comes to the overwhelming and discrete [这句话没看懂] .experiment data, arduous deduction and calculation, which call for proficiency in intellect skills and academic profoundness. After all, scientific discoveries owe much to the diligent works and specified expertise as the foundation of mansion for more stories. Experts, while devoting more time and energy in their specific area enjoys leading advantages in comparison to the beginners. Thus, breakthroughs in any disciplines also necessitate [你教我把~这个词我还是不懂用] engagement of experts and experienced scholars.
In the final analysis, we may be aware of the superiority enjoyed by experts and beginners, which both share an indispensable significance in leading to discoveries. Either biased-emphasis on one of them could be deleterious, just like eagles in the journey towards truth and permanent mysteries of the universe, which will never be able to soar and fly with uni-wing.
