167"It is impossible for an effective political leader to tell the truth all the time. Complete honesty is not a useful virtue for a politician."
Absolute democracy is the long dream for people all around the world. However, to expect absolute democracy, one could never expect the political leaders to tell the truth all the time. Otherwise, not only the leader could be turned into ineffective, the whole society could be in trouble.
To begin with, admittedly, in order to become effective political leaders, it is necessary for them to be honest to the public. After all, it is the people who choose leaders and hope them to bring out a better society for the public. The leaders should never let them down by always cheating them using some evil means like propaganda and demagogy. Once the public are always kept away from the truth, they could fail to be the supervisors of the government and the leaders could have absolute power. "Absolute power leads to absolute corruption." Such kind of leader is doomed to fail. Take Nixon for example, he tried to keep the public away from the truth of the Watergate, however, such kind of dishonesty made his the first and only president in America history to resign from his position. 这一段说理举例都很精彩~!:p
However, in order to be an effective political leader, it is difficult to always tell the truth. Otherwise, not only the leader himself could lose his effectiveness, but also the society might be turned into trouble. On one hand, being completely honest could make the leader weak. Complete honesty could only make a kind leader but never an effective leader. The political world is full of competition and conflict, always telling the truth could expose the weakness of the leaders to his opponents and once they seized the chance, the leaders could be in danger. So in order to be effective, they should always hind their weakness from the public and even lie sometimes.这里分两段来说吧 On the other, always telling the truth could also cause harm to the nation. As for some top secrets of the nation, it is the leaders' duty to keep them away from the pubic or sometimes even lie to the public. For example, once the American leaders tells the truth about the nuclear weapons in the country to the public, it is highly possible that countries like North Korea and India could learn from it and cause disaster to the world.感觉这个例子有点不贴切,如果要用就把North Korea and India换成恐怖组织什么的 Therefore, in order to protect themselves as well as protect the whole nation, sometimes, being dishonest to the public is necessary.
In sum, in order to bring about a better society to the public as well as to be effective, it is difficult for the political leaders to tell the truth all the time. The public should understand their leaders while the leaders should avoid always put the public in opaqueness.
个人感觉很不错了,语言章法都没什么太多可以挑剔的地方,看了半天就指出上面一点,:rolleyes:再加油加油~!!!:victory: |
