题目：ARGUMENT65 - The following appeared in a memo from the president of a chain of cheese stores located throughout the United States.
"For many years all the stores in our chain have stocked a wide variety of both domestic and imported cheeses. Last year, however, the five best-selling cheeses at our newest store were all domestic cheddar cheeses from Wisconsin. Furthermore, a recent survey by Cheeses of the World magazine indicates an increasing preference for domestic cheeses among its subscribers. Since our company can reduce expenses by limiting inventory, the best way to improve profits in all of our stores is to discontinue stocking many of our varieties of imported cheese and concentrate primarily on domestic cheeses."

In the memo the arguer recommends that to improve profits in all our store is to discontinue stocking many of our varieties of imported cheeses and concentrate primarily on domestic cheeses. To support this recommendation the arguer points out that last year at our newest store the five best-selling cheeses are domestic cheeses. In addition, the arguer provides that a magazine's survey indicates an increasing preference for domestic cheeses among its subscribers. However, the recommendation relies on a series of unsubstantial assumption, which render it unconvincing as it stands.

In the first place, the arguer acclaims that domestic cheeses are best-selling for the record of a newest store. Only if the newest store typifies all the stores nationwide would lend support to the arguer's claim. However, the arguer provides no credible evidence that this is the case.

In the second place, the arguer provides a survey to claim that people prefer domestic cheeses. The arguer provides no evidence that the survey's respondents are representative of the overall group of people who purse cheeses. Lacking such evidence, it is entirely possible that the magazine is totally about the domestic cheeses which readers are favor in domestic cheeses. In short, without better evidence that the survey is statistical reliable the arguer cannot rely on it to draw any firm conclusion about the citizens' favor domestic cheeses.

In the third place, even if we admit that domestic cheeses have best-selling nationwide and people favor domestic cheeses more than import cheeses, the arguer provide no evidence that import cheeses have low profiles. As we all know, profits not only relate with selling volume but sale price and net cost. Perhaps, the import cheeses' net costs are lower than the domestic cheeses and the sale prices are much higher, which makes the import cheeses get more profiles. If so, then the arguer could hardly justify the claim that domestic cheeses have more profiles.

In sum, the memo's author cannot justify his or her voting recommendation on the basis of scant evidence provided in the memo. To bolster the recommendation the arguer must provide better evidence that the selling volume in nationwide, the survey's respondents and the profits each can get.
