Who should be responsible for the later development of art ands aesthetics? People usually prefer the artists instead of critics. However, in my opinion, though the artistically works are the production of the artists, the critics are also indispensable not only in their times but also the future.
It's true that it's the artist rather than the critic that work out the masterpieces, and surely the authors deserve the respect and admiration. There are so many works of art such that should be owed to the inspiration and efforts of the artists such as the works of Beethoven, which could hardly be composed by others even the critics who were rather familiar with and even also possessed ingenuity in music. After all, the artists enjoy the authority of their own work. That fact also explains why the later common citizens are more likely to remember the names of the artists instead of the critics.
However, evaluation the works of arts calls for a comprehensive knowledge and experience, also a profound insight of aesthetics,
which make it difficult for common citizens to judge the work, thus the critic is in need for the development of the fields of arts. While the creation of the works should be attributed to the artists, it’s necessarily by appreciation of others that the value of the works could be realized. It's known that such work of evaluation is out of the confront of the group of people that sometimes include other artists, while fair judgment is needed to reward those truly possess talents and create valuable masterpiece, so people need the help of critics who are more specialized and more likely to make sound judgment despite the fact that the critics might also fail to make sound evaluation.
What's more, now that each person could make mistakes, so there exists the necessary for artists to turn to the critics in evaluating the works of their own. It's difficult to retrospect and recognize oneself, and anyone who wants to succeed needs the help of others to tell the deficiencies and then make progress. Though it occurs frequently that those truly great artists like Vangor fail to receive admiration they deserve, however, the guide of the critic help the artists to be exposed to the information of the reaction of the external world, understand the trends of the arts, and then create works which might be more meaningful, at least enhance themselves' sense of aesthetics.
In conclusion, it's important to emphasize on the artists whose contribution is easier to see, but we should respect the labor of critic who contributes to the improvement of the arts and help the contemporary and future generations to recognize the value of these works.
