outer appearance and demeanours of people are inevitably the most apt illuminations of men’s characterisic and perspectives toward life, from which we could infer the values and ideas cherished by a society to a certain extent. Nevertheless, the way people behave,dress and so forth is not the most imperative  method to envaluate a society , let alone the only access to understanding it. Because aside from the veracious reflection of people attitude, outer appearance oftentimes misleads people’s judgement over others, or even disguise the real truth hidden behind the exterior representation. In addtion to this,the values of socity are not the equivalence of values appreciated by individuals and therefore it’s preposterous to indicate the trend of a society throught that of a single person.

In the first place, the apparel of people is inextricably the effecacious incarnation of convention of the nation. For example, Americans dress casually, Japanese dress formally, French dress romatically, all of which are in accordance with the three nation’s identity of convention respectively. Moreover, people of different psychological type are prone to wear and behave diversely,say, dandies usually preen themselves garishly,churls act coarsely,obtrusive people perfoms audaciously, etc. In terms of this, people’s outlooks and action are the media by which we can make reasonable judegement about people’s attitudes and interests.

Nevertheless, in some events, people’s dressing habits are subject to some other factors which carry much weight on the decision of people’s costume. This is nowhere more true than on the issue that a person of susceptive sort is more likely to adopt the dressing and behaviour pattern which is highly recommended by others as opposed to his/her real habit. Also, when comes to a person who does not care much about exterior appearance, there lies the possibility that a millionare would wear raggedly, whether due to his nature or for the purpose of concealing his wealth. Deep down, the attitudes and interests of people are more of elusive issues than they are tangible matters which could be vividly revealed by other substitutes. Consider, could people’s characters such as probity, filial piety,rectitude and so on be indicated by their apparel and comportment? Conspicuously,in such a circumstance, outer factors bear the slightest of function, if any, in deciding men’s make-up.

What’s more, the values and ideas embraced by the society is even more abstract than that of an individual in that a society’s values and conventions are the accumulations of generations’effort and experience, they not only mirror our ancestors’ideas in remote antiquity but also embody people’s values in present and predict the potential trend of future.In this sense, society’s values and ideas are the blend of past,now and future which make it almost impossible to infer this kind of complex values and ideas of a socity in virtue of just observing people’s behaviour and appearance of nowadays only. An illuminating instance in point involves the culture development of China which is of YanHuang provenance(and I paraphrase,Yan and Huan were two towering leaders who were in charge of two dominant tribes traced back to the beginning of China’s history of five thousand years) and then has experienced the transition of numerous dynasties with each of which being distinct,at length reaches the modern times. In this case,it cannot be denied, sundry ideas and values of individuals as well as the society in every era altogether bear immediate interest to the formation of  Chinese culture, thus,ideas and values of a single person or the peoples in a single generation cannot be adopted as the comprehensive representative of Chinese varied culture.

In sum up, the outlooks and behaviour of individuals indespensably serve as a window through which we can be informed of the attitudes and interests of people and eventually grasp the profound acquaintance of values and relavante ideas of a society. Outer factors, however, cannot function effectively in terms of misadvising displays of people’s intention and complicated issues that is so inapprehensible that could not be demonstrated through tangible ways.
