48The following appeared in a newspaper article published in the country of Corpora.
"Twenty years ago, one half of all citizens in Corpora met the standards for adequate physical fitness as then defined by the national advisory board on physical fitness. Today, the board says that only one quarter of all citizens are adequately fit and suggests that spending too much time using computers may be the reason. But since overall fitness levels are highest in regions of Corpora where levels of computer ownership are also highest, it is clear that using computers has not made citizens less physically fit. Instead, as shown by this year's unusually low expenditures on fitness-related products and services, the recent decline in the economy is most likely the cause, and fitness levels will improve when the economy does."
1.The highest level in regions doesn't represent the average level of Corpora. The population of such regions is unkown, maybe it is only a small part of the whole population.
2.Lacks comparation. The arguer fails to take into account the past physical fitness level in such regions, may be it much more higher before computers come into widely use.
3.The unusually low expenditures is not neccessarily the result of the decline of the economy. there may other reasons, for example ,there may be oversufficient supplies and most local people might already have the fitness-related products. Addmited the local economy is in declination, there is no evidence to convince us that the major reason relate to the point.
to conclude, the arguer fails to rule out the possible casual relationship between the decrease of the physical fitness level and the increasing computerazation, on the other hand, he lacks sufficient evidence to prove that the delination in the economy resposible for the decreased fitness level.
