14.        是否同意environment problems are too complex to be handled by individual

From global warming to PM2.5, from Ozone depletion to water pollution, environmental problems have always been the hot topic among people. Does us individual could deal with the problems? Many people may assert that individual are not powerful enough to confront with such challenge since the environment issues are too complex and comprehensive. As far as I am concerned, however, we can still try our every of effort to help the environment.

It is true that the environment problems we are encountering are much more complex than any ever. It is because the environmental problems have beyond the territory of region and even country. To illustrate it, a fair example involves global warming which is threating the survival of human beings and other creatures on earth. The over-deforestation in Amazon rainforest could terribly influence the climate of the America and even the whole planet instead of merely affecting the life of Brazilian. It means that any unfavorable change in certain country or area perhaps develop into a big disaster to the global world! Ironically, the tremendously soaring globalization involves not just economy, but also environmental problems. Therefore, from this respect, we may say that the ability of one or two person could never be strong enough to handle such complex environmental problems. But does it necessarily indicate that individuals could do nothing but just bear it? Of course not. When more factors are taken into consideration, we may find that the role of every individual would be indispensable and significant in the battle fighting against environmental deterioration.

There are lot of things we individual can do to help environment. We can carpool, take public transportation and walk on the way to school or workplace. Then the exhaust emission and carbon dioxide released into air could be tremendously reduced. We can reject to use disposable chopsticks as well as paper-cups by which the decline of forests would be decelerated. We can also save resource by recycling water. even by reducing the use of air condition by only one hour, would we contribute to the alleviation of Ozone depletion. Although the ability of each individual perhaps to fade in front of the giant-nature, the power would far beyond one’s imagination when all the efforts are added up. According to the survey about the Earth Hour, an activity aiming at reducing the use of electric devices to deal with climate change, plenty of citizens investigated find that more stars could been seen in the sky after the activity which means that even a little endeavor of individuals could bring great shift of our environment.

What’s more, the scientific technology is developing rapidly and along with it the people’s ability to handle environmental issues has been improved. In other words, we may powerful enough today to solve some environmental problems used to be difficult. For instance, the advanced industries could make use fossil fuels in a more efficient way, so the pollutes released into air would be reduced in a large scale. With the advance of clean energy technologies, more alternative energy like solar energy and water power has been explored which greatly reduce the dependence on fossil fuels that is environmental-unfriendly. On the other hand, the sophisticated detective technology makes it be possible to observe and even predict the change in global environmental condition, thus human beings could make better preparation before the next challenge comes.

All in all, even though environmental problems are extremely complex and could not be solved within a short period of time, we could still do plenty of things to promote environmental condition with the help of technology. As a matter of fact, it is the attitude that determines what and how much we can do to deal with the environmental issues.
