贴几个过去硕士退学或者硕士签硕士的帖子，虽然时间老了一点，但是也可以参考参考。

我是上周三17在北京签的证，我是硕士退学签硕士，护照身份是学生，而且学校也很一般，至少我从来没听说过。而且我主动向签证官坦白我退学了，所以能拿到签证真是幸运。

以下是我签证经历，希望能对大家有助。

我是上上周四打的预约电话，长途，很顺利，八点四十打了十五分钟就成了，问了是否被拒签过（据说只指今年），护照号，姓名。定于17号上午十点，308号。
我上周一去踩点，发现F-1情况很好，有半奖去学EE的，有博士退学签博士的（据说签证官问他什么时候毕业，他说今年），都成功了。但由于本人情况特殊，大家都说鬼子最讨厌退学，建议我说今年毕业。但回去后，我发现我的成绩单上曾经被我画蛇天足的写上我2001年毕业，看来这个谎又不能撒。
周三我九点二十就进去了，一般要比预约的早四十分钟，先给门口警卫看护照和OF-156表，再进一个小门，核对预约号，检查是否带有金属，经过使馆的院子，就进入签证厅，好几百人多挤在里面，很热，去二号，三号交护照和I-20，OF-156，领牌子，我是浅粉的，我们这对就我一个学生。然后去排队。一共四个签证官，六，八，九是老美，七是那个韩国人。我很害怕在韩国人那儿签，因为周一踩点是有人说韩国人说话又小有快。而且我眼见韩国人拒的很多，不过好象都不是学生。我就注意数，但韩国人签的很快，六号又很慢，他俩的速度足有3：1。于是我的心总是此起彼伏，最后还是被排到韩国人手下，我只叹倒霉，别的人也很同情我们。大概有十一点了。我是这对倒数几个，也不着急，排在最后，韩国人签完上一组，也不休息，直接喊我们：#%￥%。 我们都没听清，对里没人出来，我一急，觉得好象是我，但太不象了，没办法只好冲到对首。这时偏偏有个老太很紧张的说：是不是叫我？大家连忙问她叫什么名字，一听是三个字，连忙说，不是。签证官叫的是两个字的名字。这时韩国人已经着急了，拿起护照在玻璃上乱晃。我是个近视眼，还是不能确定他叫的是我。但对里没人出来，我只好稀里糊涂的冲上去。

I 代表我  O 代表签证官，内容只记得大概。
I: Nice to meet you, sir. Here are my card and documents. 因接近中午，不好说
Good morning 了，我就拼命往里塞东西，那个小缝比想象的要小的多，不象银行是凹的，它是平的。我一紧张，东西也没塞进去，卡在窗口了。我忘了往里推，韩国人也不接，就一直那样卡着。
O: You will go to **** University?
I: Yes.
O: What is your plan in US?
I: I will study for my master degree in chemistry in *** university.
O: Why do you choose this university?
I: Because I want to study **** under the instruction of professor ***,an
excellent expert in ****. During my past research…….（我的学校很一般，教授也很一般，不好吹什么排名，下面刚想乱吹认识教授的过程，但韩国人明显不听我，在看东西，于是我就知趣地住口）
O: how many universities do you apply?
I: five
O: *&*&%$^&**&&%$^%&&
（糟了，一点也听不懂，我傻的连Pardon也没说，这是瞪大眼睛，目瞪口呆的样子，韩国人一看，就知道我没听清，于是重复了一下，还是不懂，我只是小声嘟囔：I am sorry 还没说Pardon。他看了我一眼，皱皱眉头，又问了一个别的问题，谢天谢地！）
O: What are you studing？
（其实我当时说化学，就省了下面这段紧张，但我总想着我退学，不能撒谎的事,真傻！）
I: I,I, I have given up my master degree in china. So…..
韩国人脸色突变，我暗想：完了！
O: You say you have given up your master degree?
I: yes, I think it is may be a pity for me to give up the maser degree I will
get after only one year, but I think it is worth of doing that. Because…..
（我又住口，因为他一点也不在听，他一直用手托着脑袋，看我的I-20表，什么表情也看不出来，但我暗想不好）
足有十秒！！！
O: You have given up your master degree ???
I: yes,…………(我开始解释，但说到第五句，我又放弃了，肯定是完了)
他仍然保持原来的动作。
又有十秒！！！
他突然抬头，挥手，撕条：请把你的材料拿回去（用英文说的，大概这个意思）。这时我的毕业证，成绩单都还在卡着。我一直认为拿护照的小条是细长条，一看他给我的是正方型的，还以为自己被句了。当然没说谢谢，傻站着。
O: please go to the window ten @@@$$%%%!
（连这么可爱的一句话都没听懂，好象还说了句pardon）
韩国人有极其缓慢的重复了一遍，不知他以前有没有见过象我这么傻的。这次听懂了，立刻脸色大变，堆满笑容：Thank you, thank you 心中放下一块石头。我觉得韩国人也并不一定难签，F-1的也不会为难，我这样都签了，大家更不用担心。退学确实不好，尽量不提退学的事，提了也能签过的，象我这样。退学要想好理由：更喜欢以后的专业了，不想为一年浪费时间了，美国的硕士更值钱了，自己在这儿两年没有进步了，导师也支持，等等。
韩国人签的很快，材料都不看的，理由一定要简短。

退学的ggjj们，不用担心，你们会和我一样，一定能签的！！！！

再过2个小时, 我就要离开这里回家了, 等再回来时恐怕我已是在重洋的对岸了. 这一年来, 我在水木飞跃板上得到了很大的启发, 我的成功飞跃离不开她的帮助.所以, 在走之前, 我把自己有关硕士签硕士的体会记录下来, 因为水木上还少有这方面的文章, 这一篇算是补遗, 希望能对后面的师弟师妹们有所帮助.

我在选择牛校的硕士, 还是烂校的博士这个问题上犹豫了挺久. 现在想起来真是傻, 有什么好犹豫的, 当然是牛校的硕士了. 不过我当时是没这样的魄力的, 因为我担心会签不过去啊. 曾经听到过一些风言风语, 在水木上又没有这方面的文章, 所以我就瞎猜疑. 不过我最终还是选择了牛校的硕士, 这一方面是因为我是一个经不住诱惑的人, 另一方面也是因为我知道如果不去试一试, 以后肯定要后悔的.

就这样, 我选择了硕士, 并且开始留意这方面的信息. 我发现, 象我这
样情况的同学其实有很多, 每年都有, 而且签出去的例子太多了(我还没有找到签证失败的).我联系了几个, 回信中当然都说没问题, 不过我更加想知道签他们当时是怎样准备的, 不过他们普遍都说, 签证官根本就不问为什么又读硕士的问题, 仿佛签证官毫不关心这个. 我继续收集信息, 发现硕士签硕士又可以分为两类情况, 一类是学校规
定读博士前所必须读的硕士, 一类就只是硕士, 不保证可以续读读博士. 第一类虽然是硕士签硕士, 实际和签博士没什么区别, 顶多再出示一下学校给的关于继续读博士的信件. 我是属于后一类, 没有这样的信件,不过这不妨碍我发表继续读博士的想法.


于是, 我决定从以下几个方面准备为什么要读另一个硕士.
1. 最具说服力又合情合理的理由当然是要继续读博士了, 虽然学校没说可以继续读博士, 可更没说不能读继续博士, 而读完硕士后接着读博士的计划实在是天经地义的.
2. 专业上来说, 专业更专更新, 读硕士能学到很多有用的新知识, 这些知识也是读博士所必须的. 不信你可以看我的成绩单和从网上打印出来的美国学校的课程.
3. 学校实在是好, 好得让我无法抗拒, 即使是别的好学校的PHD也无法改变我的主意. 我可以给你看被我据掉的offer letters
4. 还可以从兴趣和事业上发挥.

以我判断, 就签证官的智商和工作量而言, 只要回答第一个方面就足以让他心满意足了. 当然, 如果遇到变态或无所事事的签证官, 就要做好和他大战4个回合准备.

我最终的签证经历实在是平淡无奇, 就和我请教过的几位前辈们的经历一样, 根本就没有和签证官在学位问题上纠缠, 和签PHD没区别.

最后附上我准备的说辞, 祝各位ddmm们签证顺利.

============ A HARD CASE  ==================
Q: Why do you go to usa?
A: I'm going to study software engineering in Carnegie Mellon University.

Q: For what degree?
A: First for a master degree, then I'll continue to PhD.

Q: Why didn't you apply for PhD directly?
A: I applied PhD, but they usually offer Master first. The master program is usually one year long. If I can maintain a good academic standing, I can continue to PhD after I get Master degree.

Q: Does CMU promise that you could continue to PhD after you get MS?
(But there is no PhD information on your documents)
A: (No, but) CMU is an outstanding university, it gets sufficient research funds, most of its master student can continue to PhD.
C1: And it is reasonable for me to begin my study in software engineering as a master student, because my major -- software engineering -- is somewhat different from what I have learned these years in Peking University. What I have learned these years is some general and theory courses in Computer Science, such as networks, database, graphic and so on. Software Engineering is only a branch of Computer Science, it is a practical discipline. Software engineering is mainly concerned with how to develop, manage and maintain software. Software Engineering is also an interdiscipline, it uses principles not only from computer science, but also from mathematics, engineering and management. CMU ranks first in the
education and research of Software Engineering, in this master program I will learn many useful theories and techniques that are new to me, and these theories and techniques are fundamental and necessary for the future study to a PhD degree in software engineering.
C2: CMU is one of the best universities of US, its computer science
ranked third last year. And most important, CMU keeps ranking first in software engineering for many years, CMU always plays a leading role in education and research of software engineering. It is a great honor to study software engineering in CMU, only very excellent students
have such opportunity to be admitted. For this reason, I give up many PhD admissions to other universities, such as MSU, ISU, Temple, USC, Minnesota, and chose CMU as a result. Although I will study in a master program, it is worth to study in the best university in my major (software engineering). What's more, it's not hard to continue to PhD after I get the master degree in CMU.
C3: You know Sir (Madam), I'm really fancied with software engineering.
I don't only want to be a good programmer, (which I think I have already been,) but I want to be an excellent project leader who is able to lead team to produce wonderful software system. Studying in CMU will be an excellent chance for me to realize my goal, this is really important to me.
C4: China's software industry is developing very quickly, good software project leaders are in great need everywhere in China. A degree in software engineering from the best university in this field (CMU) is highly respected here. With the degree and the advanced techniques I learned from CMU, it is very easy for me in China to find a decent and well-paid job, or to establish my own software company. My future career in China will be very splendid. That's why I go to CMU to study software engineering.

Q: What will you do if you can't continue to PhD?
A: I'm sure I can continue to PhD. I don't think it will be hard to me.
I think it is even easier than my application to this master program.

Q: Why do you think so?
A: First, it is much easier for students in USA to pursue PhD because
they have lots of chances to communicate with professors, to get to know their research interests, their current research work, and even find chances to work as research assistant in professors' projects. This will greatly increase applicants' competence.
Second, CMU is an outstanding university, it get enough research funds. Most of its master students have chance to continue to PhD.
Finally, I graduated from Peking University, which is almost the most
famous university in China, and I'm a top student in my class. When I finish MSE program, I will get the master degree in software engineering issued by CMU. I have a very strong background.
With all these factors, I believe there will be no problem for me to continue my education toward a PhD degree.

Q: If you can't continue to PhD, what will you do?
A: If this unfortunately happened, I'll try to continue PhD in another
university, such as USC. You know, I declined USC's PhD admission this year, maybe I can continue PhD there.

我现在研1阿，准备今年年底申请，下年研2完了就走，准备申请过去读master，加油啊，你成功了，是我最大的鼓励

我也在为这个烦恼呢。
我是硕博连读，本来应该今年4月硕士毕业的，可是因为去年一直在争取打通老板和学校的阻碍，论文被耽搁。现在一边顶着压力将答辩延期（其实已经不太想答辩了），另一边准备着去与VO解释。
申请的学校很一般，读PhD 的，全奖。好不容易打通了学校的关卡，办到了护照，准备6月初去排队签证。
之前有人建议我对VO说已经答辩，只是毕业证没发下来而已。事实上我的论文也基本成型了，就是算例方面有所欠缺，老板都说让我先打印出来，而我没有（心虚没办法）。对于vo，我还是不敢拿未通过答辩的论文去冒险撒谎，毕竟我的专业还是超级敏感！
就是这样胆小嘛，只好准备硬着头皮告诉vo我硕士还未毕业，本来是硕博连读的事更不能说了。
现在担心的是，本来都要毕业了却往米国跑，会否被怀疑有移民倾向；或者他们会认为我的学术能力不够呢？哎，叹息，有谁晓，已与男友隔海相望一年又半载！
请哪位有经验的前辈帮出出主意，还有情况相近的同路人来讨论讨论吧。
