JD OPT after using a LLM OPT

有朋友了解如果LLM使用了opt，那么以后再读 JD 还有OPT吗？有真实的例子吗？

联系了本校的 international office，他们说如果JD高于master学位那就可以，但他们不确定JD是否高于LLM学位。刚问了本校 law school，他们说JD是doctor degree，应该是高于LLM学位，但他们不确定是否有人成功申请过。谢谢各位大佬了！

记得前一阵老师有讲过不同的学位就是有不同的opt申请时间的，没有一定要第二个学位高于第一个学位的要求吧

官网上写的是无论读多少个masters只有一个OPT，这个我比较确定。可能沟通有出入，我觉得你可以再确认一下

学校又有消息了，负责学生移民出入境的老师回复说
The immigration service treats the LLM as a masters degree, and the JD as a doctorate.  Therefore, when you do OPT after an LLM, you will still get OPT after the JD.

不过还是挺好奇有没有成功的真实案例

Ya, that is true when the bureau is uncertain about whether JD is PhD or master and it consults with the university. Now I'm wondering is there any possibility that the bureau would simply treat JD as PhD at the first place.

谢谢！但似乎关于degree level 是否要高于第一个，每个学校有不一样的解读，有的说需要高于，有的说高于低于都可以，只要不是等于，例如NYU给的回复...

NYU Law回复如下。我理解是可以的，因为他们认为在 law education 中 llm 和 JD 是不同阶的学位。

The JD program is a first law degree and the LLM is a second law degree in the US, both are post-undergraduate degrees. You can get a maximum of 12 months of OPT for each degree level you complete.
