The speaker asserts that the only responsibility of a corporate leader is to make money for their companies within the law. As far as I concerned, it is wise to say that profit is an essential intention to a company. However, it is absurd to state that making money is the only responsibility of a business leader, as discussed below.

It should be admitted that profits play a vital role in a business company, as it benefits the employees as well as the whole company. Also I strongly agree with the company that the companies' must with in the law. There is no denying that either the action or the policy of a company should obey the law. After all, any business company is to be a successful one should get enough money. With out profits, one company can not even survive, no mention go a long way. Consider a company can not even give all its employees salary as they deserved can go far. In addition, profits of the company are also an essential aspect to evaluate it. For instance, the largest 500 companies in the world are elected for their great profits. As the competition of modern business becomes more and more severe, making more money is a effective aspect to compete with others. Consequently, profits are essential for a company if one want to survive in modern business.

However, even if profits are essential, we can not say to make as much money as possible for company is the only responsibility of corporate executives. There are two reason to support my point of view. In the first place, over emphasis on profits may not benefits the company, to the contrary, may harm it. It is usually that the more craving the less get. The executives want to make money for the company, but in the end, he may terminate the company. To illustrate this point clearly, one need look no further than the collapse of Enron, once the biggest energy firm in American. Although it has broken the law, not as the speaker says, we can also see from it that the ending of the company is converse to the initiate of Skilling, the CEO of the firm, who may want the company make more money. Money may make the company brilliant for some time, but for lasting plan, a leader can not pay too much attention on profits. In short, overemphasis on making money may not serve to a company’s long way.

Furthermore, in the purpose of a company lies my second contention with the speaker, and is profits the only purpose of a company? An excellent leader is not only an individual who can make money for the company, but also gain a good known of the public. For instance, Bill Gates, who is undoubted a successful business leader and he is also a magnificent charitarian. On the contrary, if a company only engaged in making profits, ignoring the public will not go a long way. In addition, query whether an effective administration is also essential aspect to a company. Nowadays, there are more and more situations that the leader has little communication with the employees, leading to a dull and busy work. This is not only harms the employees and the leader but also the energy of the whole company. In other words, other alternatives should be taken into consideration by the executive.

To sum up, as the reasons mentioned above, we may safely draw the conclusion that make money should be taken into consideration, or be thought the main purpose of a company. Nevertheless, overemphasis on it may harm the company, and also other aspects of the company play a vital role in running it.
