Issue177 The study of an academic discipline alters the way we perceive the world. After studying the discipline, we see the same world as before, but with different eyes.

The speaker asserts that we wee the same world as before but with a brand-idea after studying the discipline. As far as I am concerned, I strongly agree with the author in astronomy and medical realm, while with a little concession with the art field as discussed below.

In the first place, in the realm of astronomy lies my first agreement with the author. After all, astronomy is a particular realm that we can not see it clearly if we are on the earth. The phenomenin are too vague to reflect the reality of fact if we just in it, that is where the rub is. To see this point of view clearly, one need look no further than the link between the sun and the earth. When we see the sun rise from the east and down to the west, it is hardly  for us to judge which one is the center. Then in the past, as the earth is where we stand, it is likely to consider it as the center. However, after  studying the discipline of astronomy, such as Heliocentric system, we know that the center is the sun rather than the earth. In fact, before we study the discipline, it is a difficult job for us to find the truth just from the phenomenon we see.

In the second place, the assertion of the speaker's is also effective in the field of medical. It is true that before studying the essence of a disease, it is difficult to understand why a patient whose appearance are the same as before suffers from such unusually aor cough. To illustrate this point of view, we can see the people in old China who do not know the cause of disease. When a plague deprive a lot of people's lives, they turn to a superstition that the deity is outraged. And to appease this outraged, they put pigs, hens, even very little boy and girl to a fire. Nevertheless, when now we know the essence of the disease, it is wise to cure the plague with medicine. In short, in medical realm our point of view is also changed after we have study the discipline of this realm.

However, when it comes to the realm of art, the change due to not only the knowledge but also the career of the reader. It is obvious that one without the elementary knowledge of such field can not estimate a work professionally. Consider one do not even know the 12 notes can not tell the merits and demerits of a music. However, the view of a work changed is caused by the career of the reader. For instance, when a teenager read Hamlet, written by Shakespeare, may only know that Hamlet is a hero, while when he become an adult man, who has struggle against many difficulties, the value of this work is not only limited to the hero but also the society on that time and the morality of Hamlet or other deep viewpoint. In other works, in art field, a particular realm, the changes are caused by both discipline and career.

To sum up, due to the reasons mentioned above, we may safely draw the conclusion that the assertion of the speaker is effective in most realms, such as astronomy and medical, while this assertion should be expanded when it comes to the art field, which the changes call for career of the reader as well.
