ISSUE208 - "The way people look, dress, and act reveals their attitudes and interests. You can tell much about a society's ideas and values by observing the appearance and behavior of its people."

Would people's attitudes and interest even the ideas and values of the society they present are revealed by their appearances and behaviors, as the speaker asserts? In most of the occasions, I could not agree more with this claim because that's what most people want to express through their appearance and behavior. However, we still cannot exclude some possibilities that in some certain situations those things could not be evidences for us to make the right judgment of people's ideas and values.
Admittedly, people always dress and act appropriately to tell others who they are and what they do which stand for their attitudes and interests. As for individuals this is always true and it is also true when coming to the whole country.
For individuals, people often dress according to what their job is. Teachers and professors always look simpler because they are people who give students skill and knowledge and do research. Great appearance makes no sense to them. On the contrary, the way actors and singer appears and act would always be beautiful and fabulous because that's what they like to be and what they need to. So when we walk on streets, it is easy for us to tell whether a person is a fan of fashion or whether this person is dull. Those appearances and behaviors is a great clue for people to look inside another.
As for a culture, there are some unique characteristics of dressing and acting for people to distinguish which also express the whole culture's ideas. For instance, in traditional China, people value high to the concept of family. When a child grows up to an adult, he or she mostly would chose to live together with their parents or at least live in the same city with them. In western culture, however, when coming to the same situation, it is their own free choice to live wherever they want to live. As a result, these totally different behaviors just show the absolutely distinguished ideas of these two cultures.
Last but not the least, we still cannot ignore in some certain occasions appearances and behaviors do not assure people's attitudes and interests. Take Paris as an example, when you are enjoying your travel in Paris and somehow lost your way to your hotel, it is wise to ask a person who stands by a motorbike, looks very weird and seems unfriendly for help. Maybe you will ask why I should ask such a person for help. That's because they are the people who are very kind hearted for help and friendly unlike their appearance. These people would always help you a lot when you travel in Paris.
To put all the opinions in a nutshell, appearances and behaviors would reveal a person and even a society's ideas and values for most of the time. Nevertheless we still cannot tell what ideas and attitudes people hold in some certain situations. Finally, I mostly agree with the speaker's claim but with some supplement on it.
