Nowadays, the great development of technology brings us significant impact, not only to our daily lives but also the customs and ethics. Especially with the help of the telecommunication technology, we can easily acknowledge any culture from the any places in the world. Therefore, as I concerned, the technologies not only influence the customs and ethics, but more or less, directly or indirectly help to determine them.

At first, there are some technologies have greatly impacts on our ethics, which more or less gradually form new ones. Such as human clone technology. At the middle of last century, clone technology became a very hot technology around the world. Many people believed that it is clone technology which may help to create human organization in order to help someone whose organization is dead. But with close consideration, slowly people found that there would be great conflicts between the human clone and ethics. People began to think if a clone person was born, what right would this person enjoy? What relation between this person and the origin person? The discussion about the human clone and the ethics are lasting till now. We can witness a new ethic, which about the human clone, was gradually formed during the conflicts and discussion. Just because of the new technologies' emerge, people started to think some new questions in the ethics field, and sooner or later, new ethics may be born with the help of technology.

Moreover, technologies sometimes help, sometimes indirectly, to determine the customs. Media, which is a production of the development of telecommunication technology, help to create new culture, new fashion and new customs. Many people have witnessed that Beatles brought a new culture. They took rock music to people's lives, as well lead the fashion and daily life habits to people. But how could only 4 people created a new custom? This must contribute to the technology. With the help of radios, TV and so on, more and more people started to listen to Beatles music and then, started to follow the fashion of Beatles. Finally, a new custom and fashion was formed and accepted. Similarly, with the help of movie, new fashion emerges one after another. Take the wedding ceremony as an example, because lots of western movies show scenes of marriage in America and Europe, more and more Chinese young couples choose to have there marriage in the church just like the western couples do. Meanwhile, you can easily find young people in China are in the fashion close to Japan or Korea just because lots of Japanese and Korean movies bring new fashion and customs to China. Thus I conclude that technology sometimes help to determine the customs.

Admittedly, culture, customs, ethics are something that need to accumulate for a long time to form, they are something hard to create or decay. That is to say, technology is only one of many factors that help to determine social customs and ethics. But we can see the impact of the technologies bring to us, hence, conclusionally speaking, technology more or less, but not solely, help to determine the customs and ethics.

On the whole, we have witnessed the power of technologies; we should understand and accept that the technology does bring great influence to our life and culture. Hence, when we are enjoying the benefits that technologies bring, we should keep an eye on the impact that technologies bring as well.

本来technology的题目应该相对好写，但是一扯到ethics上，我就有点崩溃。麻烦各位帮我看看，我的这篇的论证是否合适，希望各位大侠给点关于改题目的意见！！~~

TOPIC: ARGUMENT41 - The following appeared in a memo from the vice president of a food-distribution company with food-storage warehouses in several cities.

"Recently we signed a contract with The Fly-Away Pest-Control Company to provide pest-control services at our fast-food warehouse in Palm City, but last month we discovered that over $20,000 worth of food there had been destroyed by pest damage. Meanwhile, the Buzzoff Pest-Control Company, which we have used for many years, continued to service our warehouse in Wintervale, and last month only $10,000 worth of the food stored there had been destroyed by pest damage. Even though the price charged by Fly-Away is considerably lower, our best means of saving money is to return to Buzzoff Company for all our pest-control services."

The author suggests that Buzzoff Company will be the best choice for all our pest-control services. The author provides several evidence to support his claim. However, I find all the reasons are seemed logical and convincible.

First of all, the author says that last month, a warehouse in Palm city lost $20,000 because of pests, at the same time the warehouse in Wintervale only lost $10,000. Therefore, the author concludes that Buzzoff Pest-Control Company, which is responsible for the Wintervale, is better than Fly-Away Pest-Control Company, which is for Palm city. However, the author fails to show us that it is the pest-control services directly lead to this result. Possibly, there are more kinds of pests in Palm city than Wintervale which brings more trouble for the pest-control services in Palm city. Moreover, there is probably the warehouse's responibility that lead to more lost in Palm city. As example, the warehouse may be located in some places which are not clean enough or have more chances to attract pests. What's more, if some containing equipment does not work properly, such air-conditioned, it will also be responsible for keeping out of the pests. Shortly, there are no oblivious evidence to support that it is Fly-Away-Control services are not good which lead to more lost.

Meanwhile, when the author claims that the Palm city warehouse lost $20,000 while the Wintervale warehouse lost $10,000, he does not provide the number of the total value of each warehouse. It is possible that in Palm city, the ware house contains more than $100,000 production, at the same time the Wintervale have less than $20,000. If so, it means that the Fly-Away-Control did a relatively good job for reducing the lost by 25%, while the Buzzoff-Control only reduce the lost by 50%. That is to say, just opposite to what the author concludes, that the Fly-Away Pest-Control Company is better than Buzzoff Company! Conclusively speaking, if the author does not support the data about how much percentage the lost have in each warehouses, I cannot easily share the same opinion with author.

Even admitting the Buzzoff is cheaper and more powerful; I think the author is a little promptive to suggest all warehouses should adopt the Buzzoff Pest-Control services. Because when we are paying too much attention to the function and price of the pest-control services, other factors are omitted. For an instance, if the pest-control is too powerful, it has great chances to damage human beings as well, isn't it? And what the warehouse containing is food production; therefore whether the pest-control services are friendly to human is a vital element should be considered. Moreover, when we are applying pest-control services, what we should do at first is probably consider the condition and environment about the warehouses. Then we may properly pick a perfect service for the unique warehouse. Hence, applying the same pest-control services seems unfeasible. In sum, without more reasons and information, the author's suggestion seems less convincible.

On the whole, if the author shows us more information about the effects of the different services, and provides more information about the condition about the two warehouses, most important, prove that the Buzzoff Company is really a better choice, this suggestion is more acceptable.
