in this editorial, the author concludes that colleges and university should adopt a new honor codes system similar to Groveton’s to combat the dramatic rise in cheating. To support his conclusion, the author use several seemly reasonable statistics or investigation result to demonstrate the new honor codes succeed in reduce cheating, ,(1) the 21 reported cases of cheating in the first year of the new system:14 cases in the fifth year;(2) and a recent survey result conducted by the Groveton honor council. However, careful scrutiny of the evidence reveals that it accomplishes little toward supporting the author’s claim, as discussed below.
