I do like your comment. Now I'm thinking about the definition about "youth". "Youth" referred to those who are less than 30 year's old.
And I think that the contempary culture is controled by those who played the great roles in the economic life, since culture also meet people's needs. So I think that the main component of the society contribute to the contempary culture most. In American, it's those who borned in the Baby Booming generation that contribute to the American contempary culture. Then what about China? I'm lack of figures and facts:-(

It is not very easy to understand contemporary culture. Youths and older both are important part of our society. Youths can get the essence of their old culture from their older. Older can give them the objective of their lives and better way of thinking. You can take the example of two families. One family which tries to pay full attention on their kids. They tell them good things of their older culture and tries to make them an ambitious person. On the other side family does tell anything to their kids. They learn everything from surroundings. So the thing which they learn may be good or may be bad. So youths which come from first type of families always be Good citizens.

Media plays an important role in the mental development of youths. These days every children grown up with television and computers. They learn a lot on internet. In America youths have a very different culture. They do not need any friend or relatives. What they need they do it through net. For example if they need any friend , they can chat or if they need some food they can order it through net. Even parents are not able to see their son or daughter for a long time. On television there are number of program which are only for youths. These things affect a lot on youths thinking. According to the thinking our new culture generate.

So after seeing these things we can say that youths dominate the modern culture. According to their surroundings and media, their thinking develops. And according to that our culture develops. But in all these things older can play an important role. It is their duty to give awareness about the older culture to the coming generation. Youths should know about the good things of their culture. So that they can save that.

According to me youths and older both play an important role in the contemporary culture. We can not understand it only by analyze the trends of youths.

At first glance, the argument seems rather reasonable. In generally, youth is the very group to be regarded as pionieers who well represents the new current of the society. However, if a survey is required in order to illuminate the substance of the contemporary culture, the trends of its youth should not be the optimum samples.
Admittedly, the young are the most active part of a society. They are usually sensitive, vivid, brisk, and bear a wonderful ability of absorbing the new ideas and information popular in modern world and a strong sense of escaping away from or reforming the out-dated things, which no other groups may go beyond or even just keep abreast of them. For example, the Internet has gained crazy widespread among adolescents in many countries. And this widespread leads to a series of reformative storms in education, communication, economy which are commonly considered as domains of the world of adults. Even the style of lives of today’s young people differs greatly from that of the elder generation under the affection of this current. Feel lonely? Face the screen to talk with a friend maybe never meet. Feel boring? Download a new computer game . Feel hungry, clink the keyboard to order some fast food. Moreover, there is complain from a parent that he has to sent an E-mail to his twelve-year-old son every morning in order to notice him to go downstairs for breakfast. “It is the only way I can communicate with him.” said the father without a hope in hell. This example obviously proved that youth ‘s searching for original things plays a part in the contemporary culture.
However, the example above also implies another aspect of the trend of youth. As their adherents are not physically and mentally mature and are easily affected, some of the trends tend to be rather ideal and even blind, or in a certain sense, absurd. Strange clothes and style of hair, eating and drinking without abstemition , over-emphasizing the value of egoes……All such so called “fashions” which is adored by some teenagers as believes are not at all deserved the right of representation of the true appearance of today’s culture neither in depth nor width.
When we are willing to obtain a relatively comprehensive and prespective understanding of the prevailing culture, no approach is more wiser and more direct to the point than the way of making a convincing analysis of the value judgment of adults. Adults constitute the very group controlling the operation of the world, on which other groups of the society depend differently in degrees. So their declivities can be viewed as the main stream of the current. A famous statesman has ever said that it is superficial to claim that a country has become “American” when seeing that jobs are more available for young people from remote areas, when seeing that television has began to dominate home life, when ready-made food appeared in the markets.
For all these reasons above, I strongly recommend that adults trends should be the appropriate subject that deserves main consideration for people who take pains to reveal the essence of the present culture. [/SIZE]
