In the reading materials, the passage attempts to explain the prescribed burning is not a sound practice. However, in the listening lecture, the speaker closely reexamines explanation  by the different perspective, which challenges what are stated in the reading passage. Thus, the speaker expresses the opposite view of supporting the prescribed burning.

First of all, the speaker says that there are many advantages of prescibed fire since it is a powerful force of changing nature. The lecture states that the prescribed fire can be of benefit to the soil by recycling nutrients and giving more sunlight. In addition, it can mitigate the wildfire hazard. All of the goodness could hardly achieved by Disk. This view casts doubt on the passage,and support  prescribed fire is a benefit way.

Second, the speaker believes that prescribed burning is safe, regarding that participants are well trained. On the contrary, from the passage we know that the writer don’t think so. Although some people do not feel good about the prescribed fire, the speaker suggests that participants know scientific methods about when and where to make a prescribed fire. Thus, a safe and efficient fire work can be reached.

Third, the professor also raises the issue that for the descriped fire, the cost is comparatively smaller than the damage of wild fire, which  differs rom one of the passage’s ideas of making a large cost. Considering that the
Damage of wild fire is ten times higher than the prescribed fire, and at the same time hurt a large amount of families and homes, the prescribed fire will take less cost and be qualified as a good choice.

As a conclusion, the speaker does not agree with the ideas of casting doubts on the prescribed fire
in the reading passage. At the same time, he holds the different ideas that prescribed fire is a efficient and economic method to protect the forests and safeguard the residents.
