太激动了 太激动了 第一篇AW作文写完了 且不管质量如何 起码我迈过不敢提笔写这关了~ 呵呵

题目:ARGUMENT143 - The following appeared as a letter to the editor of a national newspaper.
"Your recent article on corporate downsizing* in the United States is misleading. The article gives the mistaken impression that many competent workers who lost jobs as a result of downsizing face serious economic hardship, often for years, before finding other suitable employment. But this impression is contradicted by a recent report on the United States economy, which found that since 1992 far more jobs have been created than have been eliminated. The report also demonstrates that many of those who lost their jobs have found new employment. Two-thirds of the newly created jobs have been in industries that tend to pay above-average wages, and the vast majority of these jobs are full-time."
*Downsizing is the process in which corporations deliberately reduce the number of their employees.

The arguer try to convince us that the recent article which indicated that the workers who have lost their job during the downsizing in the United States is facing serious economic hardship and last for years is misleading.  The arguer cited a report to support this opinion. But the credibility of the report and the correctness of the reasoning process of the arguer are still questionable.

The arguer based all his reasoning on a recent report on the United States economy, but as we can't know how the report is conducted we can't know whether it is trustful or not. Further more because of the data of this report is vague, we have reason to doubt that the survey may be conducted by a informal organization.  All the following reasoning will be meaningless if the report is not reliable.

Assuming that the report is trusted, the argument still remains several facets that are questionable. Firstly, the fact that more jobs have been created than have been eliminated does not mean the increased jobs are for the workers who lost jobs in the downsizing. Compared to the increase of the population even more jobs have been created is not enough for the increasing of the job hunters.
Secondly, it is just because the serious economic hardship the workers faced makes them more eager to get a job, leads to the result that many of them found new employment. But we have no idea about whether the works are satisfied to do such kind of low payment but heavy labor jobs.

Moreover, the fact that two-thirds of the newly created jobs have been industries that tend to pay above-average wages do not means those workers can get such of jobs. In addition, the reason why the worker  who have lost jobs during the downsizing may be they are lack of enough competitive strength or other factors that made them seems not suit for their previous job, as thus weakness the works have it makes it harder for them to get the above-average payment jobs. So the increasing of the above-average payment jobs have nothing to do to help them get out of the difficulties.

In conclusion, to persuade us that the recent article on corporate downsizing in the United States is misleading the arguer indicates some reason based on a report on the United States economy. To better evaluate the argument, the arguer needs more information regarding what exactly the workers situation is after they lost their jobs to support his opinion. Additionally, the arguer must provide evidence to make us believed the report that be used is creditable.
