At present, whether the universities should (The question is NOT about whether universities should or should not require students to take various subjects. It's about which approach is BETTER. You're off the question from the very first sentence becase your template doesn't answer the question. As I've said many times, I dislike template openings. The reason is not that they are template openings. It's because they tend to lead to blind writings like what you're doing right here. You're writing to fill in your template, not to answer the question - and once your template doesn't fit with the question, all your efforts go sadly wasted.) require their students to take various subjects or only one subject is becoming a heated controversy that triggered substantial amounts (I've corrected this many times, but you just keep writing the same thing. If you keep writing blindly instead of understanding your mistakes and correcting them, my efforts here are not going to help you much.) of people to have concern. Some people hold the point of view that universities should require students to take classes in many subjects. Others, however, have an opposite attitude that only one subject should be taken in the universities. My heart felt response to this debate is consistent to the latter and, I have a couple of sound reasons to speak for my option.
In the first place, as far as the enlargement (This word refers to the physical size of an object. For abstract things like knowledge, it's safer to stay with 'broadening'.) of students’ knowledge is being concerned, taking a great number of subjects plays an ever-increasingly vital role in students’ study life. For example, I am major in art and, my university requires us to take different courses including some engineering courses and science (What courses? This is where you need to be specific. Name some subjects, like linear algebra.). From my perspective, it will help us to know more about other fields’ knowledge, such as chemistry, physics and computer science. For instance, we will comprehend that what is photosynthesis is or realize the accurate definition of solution? (You mean in chemistry?). No one can deny the significance that we learn of that knowledge. Not only can it expand our knowledge, but also can it be convenient to our life. We can use this simple knowledge to solve some life problems, like how to site the flowers?, how to update our personal computers and how to fix our lights, etc. (Such things don't look like what they normally teach in universities, though. Also, I don't see how photosynthesis is related with fixing your lights or computer. You appear to be just trying to throw in whatever science vocabulary you know.)
In the second place, students who are required to take many subjects can enhance their social skills. Through taking a variety of courses, students will have more chances to make new friends and to communicate frequently with others. Undoubtedly, it can help students to have a great deal of topics to talk with those friends who have the different majors with you (Who? I thought we were talking about 'students'.). From these topics, students can think deeply and it will edify (This word is archaic, and when it's really used, it's used mostly in moral or religious contexts, rather than social discussions. I need to repeat: if you don't know how a word should be used correctly, don't use it. Use something simple and right.) their thoughts or even create their imaginations. They can discuss the new Hollywood Movie, they can criticize or comment on the newest affaires, they can talk about some similar hobbies, some study plans and even some future schedules as well as they can exchange their notions of specific field?. (You have the habit of adding 'some' before plural nouns. Those are not needed.)
Finally, we still cannot neglect the disadvantages of students who take an overwhelming majority of subjects for the reason that it will gain be more stresses and burdens (Why?) to students, resulting in having a bad physical conditions. In addition, students will not be proficient in one field (Again, why?) which makes them cannot have no deep research in their profession, rather than compared to those who spend more time on one subject.
To sum up, considerable though the advantages that universities shouldn’t require their students to take many subjects are (This part makes no sense as you're just fitting your topic sentence into the template with total disregard of grammar.), they cannot compete with the benefits that students who are concentrating on one specific subject (This looks like exactly the opposite of your stand.) bring about, when the expansion of their knowledge and the improvement of their communications are taken into consideration.
