There is no doubt that individual's need and interests play an important role in education. However, does it mean that if every person's needs and interests are satisfied, the education will be more effective than it used to be? After scrutiny carefully I disagree with what the speaker claims. The groups' education level improvement is not so easy that just add all individuals' up but more complex.
To begin with, we should understand what the essential definition of the education effect is. It is not only enlarging every body's knowledge reserve, but also applying knowledge into the life of human beings and benefiting the whole society.
Admittedly, person's interest and needs are best teachers to urge people to pursue the boundless knowledge. There is nearly nobody that is burn to be a genus in some aspects, most are digging the treasure up by themselves accidentally in the guide of their interests or needs. As for an individual, what the speaker conclude is indeed right.
But nevertheless things going are not always so smooth. We should still consider about the societies', the countries' and the integer of whole human beings aggregation's needs. Sometimes they are opposite to the individual's needs and interests. We have to make a choice.
Firstly, people own interests and needs are outdated that they cannot suit for benefiting the society. For instance, in ancient time the dragsman is a very important occupation because people at that time cannot leave behind the carriages while there are more advanced vehicles such as car, train and plane to take places of carriages in our daily lives today that we don't need dragsman any more. So, we don't need to teach the skill to persons in a big way even when the person is so interested in it.
Secondly, even if some pieces of knowledge or skills are not outdated, we also have other problems about an appropriate amount for benefiting the society. Many persons including I were dreaming to be astronauts when we were children. However, if every people were trained as astronauts, what will take place in the world? Of course we take no account of persons' physical condition that actually the picture that every people can be astronauts is impossible to come true. But this question has still explained the point. The society only needs a numbered account for each kind of talents. Too many or too few can both cause a lot of social problems like the unemployment problem.
Last but not the least, wasting social resources in helping persons make their interests or dreams which is impossible to be fulfill come true is unnecessary. For example, if I want to be a superman, should the education be designed to meet my needs? The question speaks for itself.
To sum up, the education should be designed not only to meet the individual needs and interests of each student but also to meet the society needs and the country need. And when there is a conflict between both needs, the education should focus more on the society needs because it is more important.
