In this memo , the chief executive of the video game company recommends buying the rights to produce a video game based on the soon-to-be-published children's bool " Squirrel Power,"by Peter Wood.To support this recommendation the chief executive points out that ,Wood's last three books have been best sellers and the movie based on his first book was highly profitable. The chief executive also points out that the popular characters and story line in " Squirrel Power" will save developing times.

  First ,the memo relys on the assumption that  book "Squirrel Power"  will sell good. Actually ,this can not be warranted. We can not easily draw the conclution that this book will have a good sales from the fact that Wood's last three books have been best sellers. It is quite possible that the previous three books enjoy a good sales just because they have a good theme, and this book's theme may not be so popular. Even though ,they have the same theme, the reader's taste may have been changed.Therefore, the assumption is unwarranted without ruling out the possibilities;

  Even though, the book "Squirrel Power" will be popular, it is too hastily to say that the video game based on that will have a good sales.As we know , some people only like reading books and don't play any video games. The memo fails to indicate how many readers would play vedio games.Furthermore,whether a vedio game would became popular depends on many factors such stories,music,animation and so on. Only a popular story may not gurantee a good sales.
  Even though, the vedio game will be popular, the conclusion that this investment would be profiable is still unwarranted.Profit is a factor of not only revenue ,but also costs; Though the memo points out story line in "Squirrel Power" will save developing time and reduce costs,it do not figure out how much costs would be reduced. It entirely possible that the costs of buying the rights and developing the vedio game will offset ,even outweigh the revenue.Besides ,a myriad of others possible occurence ,such as economic depresion might prevent the investment from being profiable .

  To sum up this,the cheif executive fails to substantiate its claims that the investment of buying the rights to produce a video game based on "Squirrel Power",because the evidences cited in the memo do not lend strong support to what the memo maintain.To make the argument more convincing,the chief executive should support more information with regard to whether the book "Squirrel Power" would be popular,the numbers of the readers who would like to play vedio games and so on.Additionally,the cheif executive would have to demonstate that the revenue would outweight the whole costs.Therefore, if the chief executive had included the given fators discussed above ,it would have been more thorough and logically acceptable.
