130"How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I totally disagree with the statement above. As I define “being socialized” mainly as being sociable, I think the effect of how children are socialized on the society was overestimated by the author. Admittedly, socialization is one of the most crucial features a person has to possess to carry out a better society. However, such features as imagination, courage, perseverance, etc., which are equally important, are also paid great attention by us nowadays.

To begin with, I have to accept the fact that it does trouble if a child is raised up without enough training to be sociable fundamentally, that is to say, lacking kind of ability to communicate with the others and thus make friends. According to what I have read in the newspapers in the past few years, there are numbers of freshmen having lost so good opportunities to begin their further study abroad and returned to homeland particularly because of loneliness. Does it seem to be ridiculous that college students are tend to feel lonely and even give up their school work? Well absolutely not. Compared with the graduates, those students, especially freshmen, are much less sociable and thus they are probably easier to be approached by pessimist emotions.

As what I experienced in my college life, loneliness could be established at ease when students of different fields came to the same dorm. It was not difficult to foresee that one’s schedule could not match those of the others’. For instance, the four of us took classes in various buildings during the day and were busy with personal events during the night. Being a stranger to each other, it was more possible for us to turn to the screens if there was any problem or stress or something that matters and then fell into a vicious spiral. Let alone four students varying in backgrounds including languages, manners, customs, etc.

Thanks to those reports on the newspapers. I am so glad to see that in the recent years, the society on the whole has realized the problem discussed above and commenced laying emphasis on the all-round-ability cultivation not only in the colleges, but also the schools beneath as well. Lots of social practice projects such as undergraduate researching programs, high-schools’ survival trainings, primary scholars’ summer campings, etc. have sprung up like mushrooms from every corner. Meanwhile, students themselves are also calling for more opportunities forwardly to improve their abilities containing communicating, co-working as well as creativity, courage, perseverance, manners, respect and so forth. Social-practice-communities held by the students are blooming almost everywhere and I believe these actions will help to complete the present education system and bring up our children all-sided to a large extent.

All in all, since socialization is not the only one that influences largely the determination of the destiny of the society, I do not doubt that it will benefit us lot in the field of education while nowadays people have widely come to realize the fact that it is one’s all-round ability making a person able to contribute practically to make the society a better one, and I am really looking forward to seeing our children leading a life of virtue.
