今天写的很郁闷，总是感觉偏题，还是没有找到写toefl作文的感觉，最后写的不伦不类的，也没有什么可以用的例子，哎，，，
2.8 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Being creative, rather than planning carefully, will come up with best solution to a problem.


There are many ways to come up with solution to a problem. Some argue that planning carefully is a better way than being creative to solve problem. Those people may make this conclusion based on the role of originality, which is often believed to be most helpful for solving new problems. However, as far as I am concerned, an applicable and well-designed plan is enough for coming up with the best solution to a problem.

The reason why planning carefully is effective lie in its systematicness. When we are making a plan, we usually tend to decompose a tough task into smaller steps that are easier to handle. Each step at a specific stage is designed to achieve a certain objective, which is helpful for accomplishment of goals of subsequent steps. Though this way, all the steps are organized as a complete system. When something is wrong, the “operators” of this system can find the problem as soon as possible, identify which step is responsible for the problem and value the effect on the whole system. This kind of diagnostic process can makes sure that the proposed solution is more direct and effective than that thought one night.

Besides, having a plan for the unanticipated situation is even more effective compared to the situation mentioned above. What I meant is that when you are well prepared for casual events such as sudden rain in a fine day, the possible damage caused by this events can be cut down to the minimum level. This is especially true in some public projects. For example, a dam is not allowed to build only after taking the most weather condition into consideration. If you want to create an new method to control damage when flood has rushed into houses located downstream, it is late and definitely not the best solution. If you want to do it, plan it before.

However, it is not to say that being creative loses its significance. In some situation, being creative is the only effective way, which is often happened in the absence of any plan. Without any control group to compare the effect of new method, the potential effect of a creative idea is often in doubt.
