Choice is what you need when dealing with troubles in your life. Is the situation when choice is absent extremely rare, as the speaker asserts? In my opinion, to a great extent, I agree with the speaker as we humans have the ability to think and make decisions all by their own. However, absence of choice may happen in the realms of law or ethics.


As we all know, human beings domain the world and indeed have the free will to do whatever they want. Choices are fraught with the contemporary society. As a student in the university, we have the choice of the schools as well as the academies we are to get further education. If you can stick to your goal from the beginning to the last, Harvard or Yale is not merely your dreams. Upon graduation, choices could also made by us to obtain a job of various types as you like. The vista of the future is mastered by our own and every choice equals to a step towards your ideal. Similarly, You as well have free choices to entertain to enjoy lives. When hungry, one can choose to order a set of fast food sent to the door, or dress up and go to a luxurious restaurant to have a big meal; when bored, one can watch TV, play games, or chat with friends on the internet; when tired of living, you can easily get access to any places of interest in whatever countries. Life is full of wonders and the situation when absence of choice is truly rare.



But when thinking in retrospect, people always say they are absent of choice while facing difficulties. Actually, after thorough analysis, we can find that choices do exist; it is their lacking in calmness and brave heart that have made so. One apt illustration involves the increasing quantities of people committing suicide. A typical cause of the suicide is the disappointment in one's love affair. Breaking up with your ex-girlfriend or your boyfriend is not a disaster as what you have imagined. Actually, you are able to have the choice to search for a better one due to the breaking up and it is just another beginning of a new love experience. On the other hand love doesn't mean your whole life; choices are that you can do your work better to fulfill your mental need. Also, during the Great Depression, numerous people got bankrupt and depressed to death. Nevertheless, even in this situation, you do have choice to be calm and do your business according to the principles of the market and the policy of the government. And Armstrong, the world’s greatest cyclist ever, once was the victim of serious cancer. Instead of falling behind, he bravely chose to fight with the disease sturdily and finally returned to the racing to win more champions. Therefore, never say "no choice" when you are in great trouble, just as an old saying goes: "nothing is impossible to a willing heart."


However, there are also certain circumstances that choice is seldom. Common sense tells us that when coming across things that violate the law or ethics, we have no choice but to respect. Here comes the example of paying taxes. No matter how much you are complaint about the government, each of you who has incomes is without question the taxpayers. Otherwise, you will be persecuted by the law and ethics. Free choice is a relative concept, which is only allowed in moderate extension.


In conclusion, the absence of choice is really a rare circumstance as people have the independent thought to make decisions of their own and once they have the brave heart to tackle the difficulties, they will not suffer the sense of "no choice". However, when facing matters associated with the law and ethics, choice is rare indeed.
