In our quotidian life, artistic works and scientific accomplishments are prevailing and our minds have already been fraught with them. However, for the value of each of them, which is preponderant is what we are dubious about and yet to be answered. As far as I am concerned, neither of them should be denied as less in true value, in the path leading to civilization, which is the ultimate purpose and aim to fight for.
    Artisitic works are not only designed for our viewers to enjoy, but also have the function to convey the emotions, feelings, interest of their authors or writers. That's a fabulous, fantastic and gorgeous contribution to the civilizaiton of our human beings. The motto of the Renaissance was: " A man can do all things if he wills". And Leonardo da Vinci, has fulfilled the motto than any other artists do. Mona Lisa, which is the most famous portrait in the art and human history, has made attracted hundreds of thousands of people to have a look at her fascinating smile. As we have known, da Vinci, not only a artist, but also botanist, architect and engineer, once designed a submarine, helicopter and even an airplane, long before the Wright brothers were born in 20th century. Those combinations of technology, science and art, are playing the roles like a propeller in human beings procession.
   The value of art not only lies in the material level, but also in the spirital and mental level. To put it into examples, I have to talk about Beethoven, the German composer, unfortunately, began to lose his hearing in 1801, and the illness finally aggravated, in 1819, he lost all of his hearing and became deaf, needless to say, that's more than a tragedy for a musician and composer as Beethoven is. However, this obstacle did not succeed in impeding him from becoming the most famous, brilliant, remarkable composer in the music history. There are 9 synphonies, 5 piano concertos, several sonatas and so on, what has formed a transition in the art aspect, from conventional, classical, to romantic composition. When listeners and audiences go to a concert, a considerable amount of the works of Beethoven that are the repertoires for the ochestra. Also indeed, the artisitic creations have emphasized their value and merits in the civilization of human beings.
  Nevertheless, as for scientific aspect, there should be no tolerance to omit the contribution to people's civilization, unbanization, democatization of the science and technology. Numerous time and vigor have been saved down by the appearance of automobiles and airplanes. With the time left down, more business can be dealt and profits are therefore hiking quickly, swiftly. Though, with the global warming, the icebergs are melting, the seas are rising and worldwide catastrophe looms, as the development in both science and technology, contaminations or the Greenhouse Effect will finally tackled down and solved easliy, since may measures and regulations are been established and much more concern are putting on these problems. As the saying that "Tomorrow is always bright for us."  Unilaterally eyes on the pessimism and negtives of the accomplishments of science is simply foolish and ridiculous since every coins has its two sides and even the prospect of our human beings is brightly shining, with its special luminescence.
In sum, there is no point and it makes no sense to just evaluate the value of art and science respectively, and even compare which of these two values more.
