提纲:
1.
In our fast developing society, people always have much higher requirement about the ethical and moral standards of the leader.
2.
sticking to the ethical and moral standards is truly a way to behave better for leaders of efficiency.
3.
Admittedly, ethical and moral standards are the goals every effective leader anticipated to attain, but it is unnecessary to overemphasize the concept of "highest".
Effective leaders are in desperate need in our contemporary world to unite various classes of people to help develop the society we live in. But is it a must for an effective leader to maintain the highest ethical and moral standards, as the speaker asserts? In my opinion, ethical and moral standards are indeed the things that leaders should stick to and it contributes to their better behaviors. However, it isn't necessary to of the “highest” standards; above all, the ability in leadership goes first to some extent.
In our fast developing society, people always have much higher requirement about the ethical and moral standards of the leader. People privately regard the leader of ethical and moral standards as a good choice; otherwise, impeachment may be thrown upon them. One apt illustration involves the case of Nixon, the former president of America. The process of his leadership seemed to be smooth, once the affair of "Watergate" erupted; His corruption in private life was totally thrown light on. He was no longer a suitable president regarded by the public as his image in ethics and moral had already been devastated. No matter how hard he tried, he was forced to step down afterwards. Common sense tells us that ethical and moral image is the assessment made by the public at the first glance, therefore the significance of it is without doubt.
Secondly, sticking to the ethical and moral standards is truly a way to behave better for leaders of efficiency. Those who are ethically and morally well-behaved tend to devote more to their work for the ordinary people. As with the case in China, Ren Changxia, who is the chief minister of public security in one certain place of China, died in the position he worked. She loves her citizens as if they were her children and always absent of home in order to accomplish extra work. She was regarded as the representative of high ethical and moral standards and devoted all her lifetime for the people. Died as she is, her excellent work and great character will be immortal.
Admittedly, ethical and moral standards are the goals every effective leader anticipated to attain, but it is unnecessary to overemphasize the concept of "highest". Sometimes, we have to admit that no one is perfect; some flaws in the ethical and moral behaviors seem to be acceptable to certain extent. Bill Clinton, who once had sexual scandal with an intern of the White House, Did not step down after it. Due to the increasing developed economy under his governing that America has never processed, people in majorities are fairly satisfied with him. Even if the profound bad influence on the authority, the impeachment of him was not passed ultimately. Another example is based on the famous event in China's Tang Dynasty, the greatest empire of China in history, obtained the power by killing his brothers. Crucial as he was, he led ancient China to the peak using his peerless ability of leadership that his brothers could not attain.
In conclusion, people always require the leaders to have ethical and moral standards and regard it as a fairly significant aspect to be effective. Frankly speaking, the ethical and moral standards are indeed helpful to make leaders more devoted to their work. Nevertheless, it is the ability in leadership rather than the standards that is the most crucial; sometimes we should compromise when suitable. |
