Some people argue as if it is a general truth that telephone has greater influence on people’s lives than television. But to be frank, I can’t agree with this statement. There are numerous reasons why I hold no confidence on it, and I would only explore only a few primary ones here.

Before my demonstration, I have to admit that both telephone and television are the greatest inventions during human history, the reason is that both of them improve our lives and broader our view. However, what makes them different for us is their function. Telephone is a method we connect with each other, while television makes us to communicate with the whole world. As we comparing the whole world with any individual, we can make our conclusion about which changes our lives obvious without any doubt. However, I still want to mention some further explanation.

For one thing, if we comparing the outside world to a huge school for us, television must be the best tutor for our learning process. For instance, it shows us documentary of Yellow Stone National Park and Amazon to incentive our interested in geology. At the same time, it helps us to look back to the Revolution War and Civil War. These historic moments make us a real part of our history.

For another, besides being a telescope for the outside would, television is also a microscope for our inside world. It uses a vivid method to show us the humanism, and make us to think about ourselves at the same time. Every day we watch TV for news and plays. The characters of them and the way these persons treat the staffs and affairs around them, making us to ask ourselves. Am I just like the miser in the movie? How would I deal with my dishonest friend? And could I be a brave man like the hero I admire? All of these questions can enhance our understanding of humanism and make us to be better.

Even though telephone makes a small world for us, it can’t compare the whole university television shows to us. Taking into account of all these reasons, we can reach the conclusion that television plays a more important part in human’s lives than telephone. If we didn’t have the telephone, we lost some of our friends far away. However, losing the television, we would be lost in the complicate world.

In recent years, there is a heated discussion about which kind of teachers is more effective for us, strict teachers or humorous and easygoing ones. Some people maintain it is obviously that those strict teachers make teaching more efficient, as they focus on spurring their students on to work harder. However, I oppose to the statement, from my perspective, I would like to choose the latter type as my teacher to enjoy a meaningful learning. There are numerous reasons why I make this choice, and I would like to explore only a few primary ones here.

First of all, there are so many basic characters of a good teacher, and easygoing is an essential one of them. Beside of teach-and-learn, which is the basic method of learning, communication with our teachers plays an important role in our learning. By communication, we can solve our question in a more efficient way and make the key point of what we learn more clearly. However, a fusty and strict teacher makes a distance between us, while those friendly teachers just open their heart to welcome us. Just like an old saying goes, we prefer to an ordinary white daisy rather than a conspicuous rose with stings. We would like to take a long conversation with a easygoing teacher rather than stop by the teacher who seldom smiles.  

In addition, comparing with those methods of teaching, humorous is a better way to transport knowledge. We have to admit those basic science knowledge are so boring that we cannot focus our mind on it for just one minute, and those theory of philosophy are so inexplicable that they drive us mad. For this matter, humorous is an effective way to help us. Humorous teachers transfer those frigid letters on blackboard to vivid image for us, and turn those boring theories to interesting stories.

Last but not the least, I have to indicate a key point, that is, strict and humorous are not the opposite characters of a person. An easygoing teacher can treat their students strictly as well. A humorous teacher is also responsible to make students to be hard learners, besides tells funny story. Just like a kind father can also blame his son for making a mistake. However, they cannot predict that those daily homework do a harm effect on their students rather than push them forward. Too much homework weaken students’ interest of their class, boring daily work eat our students’ eager to learning. In addition, we cannot plug all of our children’s spare time with homework, for these spare time is useful for our children to find out a penchant of themselves and this can assist their study on the other hand. As a result of this experience, playing instrument can influence our children’s behave, make them to be patient for what they do and have a break of school life.

By learning those roles in business, international communication and some other field, nowadays, we make many improvements of our sport as well to change it from a brutal game to an equal competition. As these changes are all based on our today’s society, we can learn to be a social person while we take part in sports. For instance, we all know that competing in an equal and peaceful way is the basic role of sports, it is similar to our social laws. Printed books have greater effects on society than television has.Thanks to the development of technology, our society undergoes a tremendous change during decades of years. When it refers to which objects- the printed book or the television, have the greater effects on us, there is a heated debate. From my perspective, we have to admit that printed books do have a lot of influences on our society before the invention of television. However, nowadays they both affect us from different angles on their own way.

Obviously, printed book has a long history than television, that it has already influenced our society for a long time. Printing was one of the most important inventions of human history, after this revolution development, our ancestors transport information and messages in a convenience way. Comparing with oral transport, which always makes many misunderstands, printed books make our transportation of knowledge through different counties and even through different continents to be a possible and reliable thing. For instance, thanks to printed books, such as Marco Polo's travelogue, western people have a glance to old China, especially its splendid culture and traditional way of life.

As time flies, after the revolution of industry, our society has been changed a lot by those new technics, television is one of these unbelievable inventions, which makes the global become a small village soon. This big change influence our society heavily, it broads our view of the outside world in a subjective way and changes our life style. For example, there are several new words born after the invention of television, such as “sofa potato” which refers to those persons spend their leisure in front of television.

For this matter, some people would argue that printed book no longer has its significant affection as before. However, I cannot agree with this statement any more. In my point of view, instead of losing its importance, printed books change our society by a different way. In the past, it transported knowledge of visual world to us, nevertheless, it plants seeds of reassessment in our hearts. Living in this complicated society, we have more and more puzzle about ourselves, and we suffer from the regrets for what we have done. At this time, giving us a break from this realistic world and immerging ourselves in the ink of those printed books is a better way to pure our souls and resolve our problems.

To sum up, I want to conclude that both television and printed book have their irreplaceable influences for our society. Television helps us get in touch with the outside world in a subjective way and change our way of living, while printed book makes us search deeply in our inside world.
