In this analysis, the author claims that all patients who are diagnosed with muscle strain should take some antibiotics as part of their treatment. To solidify the conclusion, the author cites a result of a study of that, two groups of patients take antibiotics and sugar pills. The first group of patients who take antibiotics regularly through their treatment and the recuperation time was 40% quicker than before. Whereas, the second group of the patients took the sugar pills and their recuperation time was not significantly reduced. On the surface, the argument appears to be logical, however, the arguer overlook some certain concerns, which need to prove. In my view, this arguement is problematic for several reasons.
First of all, the author did not provide some detailed information about the severity of injuries and the physical condition of the two groups of patients. It is possible that the second group of patients are badly hurt than the first group of patients, and that the recuperation time obviously is longer than the first group. To the extent that this is the case, then the author's argument is unconvincing. Even if the injuries of both group's patients are the same, perhaps there might be other differences between treatments offered by the two doctors. Therefore, whether the recuperation time relate to the antibiotics need more evidence to support the claim. Actually , the author does not provide.
Moreover, every drug has possible effects and the author overlook the side effects of the antibiotics and side effects is harmful to the health. Some patients will be seriously ill after taking antibiotics. Without ruling out this possible scenario, the author cannot convince me that the taking antibiotics is good for the muscle strain.
Finally, even if the antibiotics is suitable for the patients, whether all the patients can pay the medicine. If the price is too high, some patients might not be able to afford it. It may lead to the serious condition of the patient or the recovery progress is seriously impeded.
In conclusion, the recommendation for the muscle strain patient to take antibiotics is not well supported. To convince me that, the author must provide clear evidence about the conditions of the patients and the specific information about the drug.
