Issue 130"How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."

Though being socialized is a dispensable progress in the growth of every child, which is also significant to the developing of our society, we could not overemphasize the importance of how children are socialized to our society; meanwhile it may be too extreme and pessimistic to say we have not yet learned how to raise children to better society, especially when the education and other related fields are keeping a high-speed development.

Turning first to the speaker’s allegation that the destiny of society is controlled by how children are socialized, admittedly, socialization is one of the most considerable factors in the growth of a child other than in the development of a society. To witness what role of socialization plays in the society, we need look no further than the education and economy. First, in schoolyard, teamwork is becoming a more and more important factor in the course of assessing of a student, which is not only popular in the US, but also replaces the original means of scoring a student-just a test-in China. This far-reaching conversion in education does reflect how vital children’s socialization is to their growth and our society. Secondly, paying more attention on the collaboration among companies has become a steady tread in the realm of commerce. For example, several people applying for a position in the marketing department of a company, owning highly-speaking socialization will undoubtedly do distinguish oneself of the applying group. Accordingly, we are supposed to be aware of the fundamentality of children’s socialization and keep developing it.

Significant as socialization is in our society, many other factors contributing to the progress of a society should not be ignored. Consider certain prominent celebrities who have make a profound contribution to a better society. Currently Yuan Long ping, the Chinese famous specialist in agricultural realm, develops a sort of paddy which can produce a more than twice amount of rice as the common paddy do after applying genetic engineering. His great discovery has little to do with his socialization, but due to his numerous trials and errors. Thus It is his spirit of delving and his inner conviction that contribute to the whole society rather than his socialization. Another typical example is Theodore Roosevelt, whose social development was hindered by his physical infirmities. However, he was not only ascended to the president of the US, but also the only president reelected for three times, which is through his strong will to overcome physical infirmities, optimistic attitudes and his born intellect.

Turning next to the speaker’s second assertion that we have not yet learned how to raise children who can better a society, in my observation however, the current society is abounded with activities relating to socialization. There is an increasing number of international cooperation, so is collaboration among enterprises throughout the country, including peace-keeping, environmental protection, antiterrorism, eradicating racial and sexual discrimination and so forth. Undoubtedly, children are learning how to be socialized and are trying to be whenever it is and wherever they are.

To sum up, how children are socialized is necessary for the developing of a society, but sufficient to determine the destiny of society, and then many other significant factors cannot be overlooked. While some people may raise objections to that children are learning to better society, I will adhere to believe what I have observed, namely, the wide socialization. In the final analysis, then, I primarily disagree with the speaker’s allegation.
