The speaker asserts that the convenience and luxuries serve to undermine our true strength and independence as individuals.I agree insofar as over-wealthy life can satisfy the materialized desire,which to some extent that will prevent individuals from making further progress.At the same time ,however ,the convenience and wealthy life can be the substantial foundation for one to be strong and independent.

At first glance ample evidence would seem to lend considerable credence to the speaker`s claim.Wealthy life can possibly deteriorate one`s strengh and independence.Much  news informs us that the desendents of the upper class involve themselves into overdue squandering or chaos sexual life.The notorious example cannot miss the figure named Paris Hilton.Depending on the celebrated fame and fortune,Hilton behaves rather dissoluted.The unexhausted wealth made almost every materialzed matter available to her ,which in turn contributes to licenciously life-squandering and the loss of will to strive to be better .To some degree ,the frivolity and dependence is attributable to the redundant fortune and convenience of life.

However,man' s staunch will of life and independent personality depends not upon his wealth but upon his character, which judges the direction of variations.The crux of strength and independence lies on the internal causes of the individual.Via the internal causes,external causes just influence the individual by accelerating or the regressing the process.

In this way，with the strength and independence of the individual, luxurious and convenient living will not soften people,but lay solid material foudation for the fight.Common senses inform us that good foundation of education,which is partly due to the firm material foundation ,can lead to a high point of commencement.To take Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the patriarchs of Google , for example.Their parents are all professers that made the family status superior to other so as to the possession of computer  even in 1970s,which cultivated their ensuthiasms from an early age and facilitated the their route for invention.Along with the determination and independence of the two ,the world first search engine--- Google---was born.In this way ,the facility and affluence is the subsidy to buid strong and independent personality,which altogether lead to societal success.

The same goes for the vice verse situation ,that ordinary even poverty-stricken life impel strongly independent individuals to strive for a better life and not to be left behind.As the saying goes ,where there is will there is a way.Excellence requires the strong determination and self-independence .Geoge Handel ,the prestigious musician in Europe,once suffered from hemiplegy in his middle age.Regardless of the poverty and pains,his tough mind made him stand on his feet again and the composition of Messiah awarded him with glittering glory.Difficult condition is the grindstone of the will.

In sum ,the indulgement in affluence and convenience of the contemporary will sap the strength and independence of individuals.Only if the individuals treat the wealth and facilitation as the iteration towards life proposition,and even the opposite situation as the impetus ,will the strong and independent personality be built.
