issue49 Imaginative works such as novels, plays, films, fairy tales, and legends present a more accurate and meaningful picture of human experience than do factual accounts. Because the creators of fiction shape and focus reality rather than report on it literally, their creations have a more lasting significance




I agree insofar as by virtue of focusing on and shaping reality, imaginary works present a accurate picture of human experience. However I think any meaningful imaginary works should be combinations of reports on reality and artistic expression, which as a whole made imaginary works have a more lasting significance.

On the one hand, since human experience is part-and-parcel of reality, creators of fiction usually observe and learn from real life to gain the accumulation of day-to-day life materials and thus make their creations present a accurate picture of human experience. In regards to the factual accounts, they document reality and facts with more scientific language and critical analysis, and therefore made themselves accurate reflection of truth and daily life. Therefore both of them are valuable presentation of human experience ,with each one dealing with different aspects.

On the other hand, the means of artistic expression make imaginative works perfect delineation of human ideal, as an old saying goes :art is the distillation of life. There is a controversial question which have aroused much controversy among people with diverse backgrounds , say if we each have a destiny, nothing had happened , it is just a part of a plan or if we are all just floating around accidentally like on a breeze. Imaginative works answered the very in view of all the aspects involved. In the first place, it reveals the hidden ideals from the bottom of our hearts and provide impulses galvanizing us to accomplish our ideals and propeling our society smoothly advance forward. For example, the world will never be the same once you have seen it through the eyes of Forrest Gump. “life is like a box of  chocolates ,you never know what you are gonna get.” Like the movie itself , this lice from Forrest Gump became a instant classic and an inspiration to million of people worldwide .Of course, because of intellectual or other influential factors, many people have to farewell their ideals after a try or after they bear the burden of life. Therefore in the second place , imaginary works provide people with a response to their psychological and biological needs to cherish their dream in the bottom of their hearts. Therefore , because of its almost unfailing consistency as a element of many societies, imaginative works have accompanied man since prehistoric times and thus gained the more lasting significance than do factual accounts.

To sum up, by shaping and focusing on reality , imaginative works depict an accurate picture of human experience. And by virtue of capacity to embody symbolic and impulsive effects, imaginative works gain its more lasting significance than factual accounts.

你的文章的特点和上次有一个朋友一样，喜欢修饰得比较多，喜欢搞复杂一点。但是恕我直言，一般考GRE作文的人都没有能力去写artistic式的作文，所以既然是AW，还是要突出逻辑和简洁有力的句式表达。当然，能展现运用英文句式的能力有更好。但是一定不要搞复杂，一复杂就特别容易chinlish，这个。。。这个。。。容易让美国佬不懂的。

写的还是很不错的，再加油。也可以看看别人的文章，提点意见，取长补短
