As the technology develops, telephones as well as televisions become popular in our daily life. Some people say that television affects us more, while others argue that telephone have more effects on us. As far as I am concerned, I support the former idea because of the following aspects.
First of all, television offers us information outside. When we turn on the TV, we can watch news to learn about what’s happen around the world. This, to some extent, not only helps us be more knowledgeable, but also benefits our life. For example, my friend Victor once planned to go to Thailand . Just before he went to the airport, he learnt that a conflict came out in Thailand on TV. To avoid being hurt there, he cancelled the plan at once. And we learnt that some tourists were hurt in the conflicts then. While I was happy for Victor, I was convinced that watching news on TV really could benefit us anyway.
Furthermore, television can provide us entertainment and make our normal life more colorful and stimulating. Different kinds of programs are on the TV everyday to satisfy people with different tastes. Housewives can choose to watch cooking programs, which help them improve their cooking skills, to cook more delicious food for the family; White collars can watch yoga programs to exercise and relax after a hard-working day; children can enjoy cartoon and even learn some knowledge from it. In a word, we can always find programs fit for us on TV.
Admittedly, telephone does a great favor to us by allowing we connect people more easily. But according to a report, a new type of television which is developed by scientists make it possible for us to communicating with people on the TV. This makes television more helpful to us.
To sum up, television plays a more significant role than telephone does in our daily life by providing information, offering different kinds of programs to entertain us and even connect the world.
Advertising is the only main cause of the unhealthy eating habits
According to an investigation made by Scientific America, more and more people develop unhealthy eating habits in the modern society. Some people argue that adverting is the only main reason leads to the problem. Others hold the opinion that this problem is also caused by the great pressure and the pursuit of beauty.From my point of view, I agree with the latter idea.
First and foremost, people nowadays are mostly under great pressure. We are rushing all the time, including the time of eating. When we are working, we may eat some unhealthy fast food to save time. What is more, some people may forget eating when they are busy. Also, people may want to enjoy some more sleep and skip the breakfast. This, according to experts in the nutrient field, dose great harm to our health.
Furthermore, people are now living in an epoch which considers slim people as beauties. This makes girls keep thin to become more beautiful. My best friend, Carol, is a beautiful and healthy girl who is only a little fat. As she wanted to become more gorgeous, she tried to lose weight by reducing her meals sharply. I gave her advice that this bad eating habit might do great harm to her health, and she ignored more advice as she really wanted to become a beauty in the society. Several days ago, she went to the hospital, accompanied by her parents, to have an examination as she didn’t want to eat anything,. After diagnosing, the doctor told them that she had to stop losing weight and change her bad eating habit immediately. Only in this way could she avoid becoming unhealthier and even the danger of life. Now she return to the normal eating habit and become what she used to be. I am really happy for her, and her story reflects that the pursuit of beauty may really lead to bad eating habit.
Admittedly, advertising really can be a significant reason why people are developing an unhealthy eating habit. Little children are attracted by the fast food eaten by a crowd of joyful people in the TV and want to have a try themselves. But advertising, to some extent, is obviously not the only main reason for bad eating habits. The great pressure and the pursuit for beauty are also improtant reasons for unhealthy eating habits.
