什么东西都没看就现写了一篇..自觉不怎么的,但毕竟还是希望别人能给点意见...
ISSUE 2
The speaker suggests that any kind of competition will have more bad effects than positive ones on most societies. But as we all know, as competition is the most impossible thing to avoid in this era, if the truth is just like what the speaker says, then the whole human race's evolution would become a thorough tragedy for it has been accompanied by competition all the way.
Grantedly, just like most people, I never truly enjoy any form of competition myself. In a competition, all one’s success only means a failure to the other. This inevitable monster follows people everywhere. As, in most cases, people have no choice but face it, we can say that there is actually no winner in a competition. Most of the times they just keep you in pressure and drive you seeking after something impassively------something that you even don’t know whether you want or not. Sometimes those matches even reduce friends to strangers, lovers to enemies. If you once bought a book in university not because you really enjoyed it but just your roommate had borrowed the same one from the library several days before, then you will understand it.
Although competition exerts pressure on people, I have to admit that it does play a crucial role in most societies. Can’t endure the atmosphere of people fighting with each other anymore, many people nowadays yearn that kind of life led by the two guys in the film, The Fight Club, which encourages people to escape from the society so that to avoid competition. When it comes to me, I’d like to say I want to burn all my IKA furniture into ashes, live in a house with broken roofs and care nothing but eat, sleep and sex too. However, in real life, I know I will never choose to act that. Not because I’m not brave enough, but I think once a person was born, there are following responsibilities he has to take. Lots of things are waiting for us to deal with and a great number of people who are still suffering are waiting for us to take care. Competition can be used to pick out the most capable people for our society, or we can say, the most suitable people to do various things. In politics, in economy, in every aspect of our life, if everyone tries to escape from competition, then no talent people will stand out to deal with the tough things that occur in the development of societies and the road of future may seems dim as a result of it.
Besides ensuring that everyone is at his suitable position, the pressure caused by competition which we all hate can be judged from other angles. In some cases it can be turned into a stimulus when treated properly which can be used to stimulate people or society to be more devoted to their
self-development. Here’s a not that good example, maybe too extreme, but it’s imagic. The sense of competition irritated by the two world wars and the cold war does contribute to the growth of the world’s military force to a great extent. We may hold negative opinions towards the process sometimes, but we should ponder the consequences justly.
In sum, despite the gloomy feelings that competitions may leave people, they always have long term benefits for most societies. Competitions give impetus to development. There is an old saying :not developing is equal to recession. A Society without competition is doomed to step back to it’s origin no matter how harmonious it may seem superficially. |
