Opinions are divided whether the understanding of the past provides the present life with the guidance. Some people think that the old thoughts are out of date and it can’t help the development of the modern society. Others agree that the past experience is the best guide for the novice who will undertake the liability of building the new world. In my opinion, though sometimes the past ideas can’t keep up with the rapid development of the society in contemporary, it will have a strong influence on the living in the present.

It is undeniable that something historic would have nothing to do with the rapid development of the science and technology , the past understanding will no longer contributes to the birth or improvement of new skills. As the 286 CPU can’t drive the “vista” system, instead, it may even damage the computer hardware . So rather than helping it improve , the stale thoughts even bind the creative ideas and impede the innovative practice , which make the modern life regress. The case to this point is that at the beginning of building socialism , the Soviet Union government took the method of planned economy to deal with the developing affairs when lacking of various materials ,but latterly ,with the augmentation of the resource and great development of people’s material requisite, the old method can’t fit the situation , but there was no change for it , finally, its improvement was at a standstill . Thus past understanding may not be a good guide of new life and we always need new ideas along with the new changes.

However, past understanding is not completely useless. In other words , most of the experience can help people understand the law of historical development. This explains why after Marx’s death for more than 30 years, people still use his ideology to guide the establishment of the society. What’s more, the truth will not change with the changing history. No matter how rough the words seems. The new development of the technology should follow the old rules as well., if not , suffering the destruction resulted from that is inevitable. For instance ,when it comes to the problem of the ecology, the ancestor asserted that people couldn’t overuse the natural resource, otherwise, people would be trapped into trouble by the punishment of nature. Without any attention about it , modern people still cut down too many trees without limits or use water resource unreasonable ,which cause the sandstorm and severe drought ,making modern lives filled with the very serious pollution.

To draw a conclusion, we should treat the past understanding of human life correctly, gaining the valuable to direct our modern lives while giving up the useless which may lead to the failed building of society.
