Agree or disagree：
The best way to learn about a foreign country is by reading newspaper or magazines.

I strongly disagree with the opinion that the best way to learn about a foreign country is by reading newspaper or magazines. Each country is an individual entity has its own special culture, traditional and believes which distinct itself from others. However, newspaper and magazines can not reflect a foreign learner about one country's culture, traditional and the life of people in the best way. This is because of the limitations of the newspaper and magazines themselves. They are the productions of people so they come out with subjective and usually influenced by the prejudice of authors, sometimes even include mistakes and fraud. I will explain it in details.

The articles of magazines and newspapers are written by the journalists so that they are given the subjective altitudes by the authors at beginning. Suppose we have read the articles about a foreign country, these articles are so comprehensive and with a great lot of details. We think we have a good understanding of the country, just like an expert of it. But in fact, we are not knowing a foreign country, but knowing a journalist's altitude towards a country! To point out, the media is easily influenced by politics. Sometimes it's the weapon of political fights. When the ideas of articles are tainted by colors, your knowledge is just twisted by others.


Another important reason is that a lot of newspapers and magazines are lack of authority. These productions with mistakes completely distort your impression of a foreign country. The worst thing is, sometimes, the articles are published without any actual evidences to approve and even are fake ones. For example, Korea published an article claimed that Confucius is a Korean. In fact, it is incontrovertible that Confucius is a great Chinese philosopher. However, if you have never known about East Asian countries before that and your understanding will be totally mislead by what the article of Korea said. 

 The best way to learn about a country, in my view, is to learn a language of the country. Catch a chance to go to the country, to meet its people and live there for a period of time. You will have a much more realistic and reliable understanding of this country rather than reading it in words.
