When people are admitted in college, they can not wait to choose their major and plan for their promising future. Basic science seems would never make significance anymore. However, what we have ignored is what we are lack of. We should not stop learning basic science when we are still at the primary stage of our majors.

Why is basic science discribed as basic? Why is applied science discribed as applied? Distinguish the two science from their appearance, that is not hard to find that basic science is the basis of applied science, in an other word, applied science is developed from basic science. Every applied science to some extend is derived from a certain or some kinds of basic science, for example, accounting is developed from caculate, management’s prototype is philosophy and electrical engineering is based on physics. The former subjects are all applied science, and the latter ones are all basic science. Hence, basic science is the prerequisite to applied science. Whatever field we want to major in, we can't keep us away from basic science otherwise we will definitely end up with failure in the future.

If the significance of the basic science is still neglected by most students, then another aspect of basic science is related to all of us. As we know, everyone has a gift in a certain things, someone is good at singing, someone is good at reading and someone is good at caculating. And singing is form of art, reading is literature and caculating is mathematics. When we realise our gift, must by a way of learning the related subjects. That is to say, learning basic science contributes to find the gift in ourselves, then we will be mapped a clearer future with the subjects we good at, maybe someday we will turn into an expert in the field we interested in. Most famous scientists and artists are certainly enjoy the subjects they engaged in and they are experts in many fields,. Therefore, the process we are learning basic science is also the process we are acknowledge ourselves even when we have choose our major, sometimes we are not really suited for the subject.

Basic science is not only important in our study, but also is important in our daily life. With the knowledge of logic, we can clarify whys and hows in some problems, and when our minds equiped with philosophy knowledge, we can quickly identify the essence of many things. That is the sign of intelligence, which is an critical standard in testing people’s intelligence quality.

Abstract as basic science it is, we should never give it up. It is not so practical than other subjects, however, if without these basic theories, applied science can not exist. That is why we should not quit basic science study even though we are qualified to choose our major, students should be required to take basic science study for it is the basis of majors.
