By studying history, we can be easily told that everything around human being is changing greatly but one thing stays constant that the basic human nature—our desires and motives, as well as our fears and other basic characteristics. Through this realization we can benefit as society in dealing more effectively with our enduring social problems. For example as human nature stays constantly, there is a chance that we may make the same mistake which has been taken place in the past, therefore history can serve as a mirror to let us be aware of this potential declines to follow the same disastrous road. Such as the massacre on Jewess which made by German in the second war, till now, the whole world people feel shameful about that outrage. By studying history, we can learn that people’s basic nature which contains shortcomings stays constantly no matter in what times, by knowing which we can effectively avoid stepping on the same wrong road.

However, as the time goes by, huge changes also have been taken place around human beings such as cultural morals, customs, values, and ideals. It is equally beneficial to understand these differences. The ways in which societies have treated women, ethnic minorities, animals, and the environment have continually evolved over the course of human history. Take the environment for instance. Since the second industry revolution, people had made the best use of technique so happily that no one ever distributed any attention on protecting environment. However, modern people have to eat their own bitter fruit, greenhouse effect, acid rain and the highly frequency of extreme weather disasters give people a hint that we should change our attitudes towards environment. Therefore, big changes have been taken places. Nowadays, modern people take environment issues seriously and spend a lot of energy on protecting our earth. How can you say that it is not a huge change for human?

In addition, we should not undervalue other important benefits by studying history.For example, history serves as a catalyst for society’s development. Most of our achievements of today are basic on the diligent endeavor made by our forefathers. What’s more, studying history can help us build a better understanding of humanity and ethnicity. No matter from what angle, history gives us great help on our self-development. Therefore, we should take an overall look on the benefits which are brought by studying history.
