So much is new and complex today that looking back for an understanding of the past provides little guidance for living in the present.
Is there little guidance that history provides to us today? The issue claimed so. I fundamental agree with the opinion. As the development of modern society, it is truly that the past cannot help people for present lives in some fields. However, we cannot ignore that the history provide lots of benefits to us.（字数530words 时间2个半小时）
First of all, so fast does the world we live today developed that almost it changes every minute. Even field make much progress during few hundred years and exert a profound influence on our life. It advances with a amazing speed and we will never predict that what great discoveries would be made next minute let alone to expect that past provides us guidance for living in the present. People who lived in the past would never consider that one day their mails could send in one second and then another received next second no matter where they are in the world. The commercial through the internet can clearly illustrate what a new society we live now. During the past ten years, the e-commercial accomplished the goal that booking, bargain, purchasing all through the internet which is impossible to consider in the past. This simple example indicates that it is the past which without the capable to provides guide for us.
However, it does not means that history teaches us nothing. Instead, history left us large amount of experiences valuable and treasure for the present people. Most of time, we followed with prints which left by forward people. Modern science research workers would bogged into mass of repetitive works without previous experiments doing by forward science research workers. It is the past experiments that make the modern science research worker more efficient. If we were not to understand the past ,we would have to repeat the past works. It is either waste much time, lots of society sources, what really matters is that it will slow down the pace of society advancing. As a typical example, based on the discoveries by several people Watt realized the goal that improve the rate of useful of the evaporate machine so that it can be widely used in the industry. It clearly indicates that the past provide enormous help to us.
Additionally, the history also keeps our eye on the ball. It guides us to careful enough when we make a great decision with avoiding in committing the same false as before. As a typical example, during the Second World War, American threw two atomic bombs into Japan due to
attacking the Pearl Harbor without alerting. It is a disaster for the people all of world. After known about the history, our nation leaders should deal with the international affairs peaceful. Thus, the world can reduce unnecessary wars. The people will receive the most beneficial from the peace.
Even though the history useful a lot to our lives today, we would not do as what it tells us totally. We must have the suspect attitude to discover the shortage of history. After all, there is a tremendous gap between past and nowadays. Just do as so, we can make full use of the guidance the past leave for today.
