ISSUE119： “when research priorities are being set for science ,education ,or any other area ,the most important question to consider is : how many people’s lives will be improved if the results are successful ?”

Researches ,which are conducted in almost every field of life including science ,education arose a discussion on whether it is suitable for the researchers to pay more attention on the application
for improving people’s life rather than doing researches themselves. When some people hold a view that given that researches serve people’s life in the long run , the priority of research should be concerned with the practical values ,I make a different assertion that research cannot be judged and rated by the standard of applying in life well or not. When researches are done by the hard-working people with definite goals , they are valuable and useful for the society . I will have a specific discussion in this essay.

Admittedly ,some researches are highly expected and appreciated by governments and scientists for the reason that by the deep studying of these researches ,some hard problems such as hunger and diseases can be solved to some extent . When speaking of Yuan long ping, a scientist who dedicated his life on researching the hybrid rice, People in China will praise him as the father of hybrid of rice ,and be thankful for the contribution he made on increasing the product of rice plant remarkably by substitute the common rice with hybrid rice in the farmland of south China . It was successful for him to get the positive results from studying the hybrid rice and to apply it in large area of land, which has ceased the problem of hunger in a large scale at the end of the last century in China . These kinds of research surely have a significant effect on improving people’s life , which point is widely acceptable and claimed.

However ,man cannot expect all the researches are applied instantly and successfully
in the mundane life . As a matter of fact ,most researches in science are focused on the fundamental subject ,such as biology ,psychology ,physics etc. Researches on these subjects are of great importance, given the reason that the basic rules and disciplinarians concluded in these field is the common knowledge for people to pursue in order to climb the high level of science ladder. When the complicated mathematics formulas are deduced , they can be well borrowed by economists to elucidate the model of
economic phenomenon . But if there are no such mathematics researches as previous condition , even the most brilliant economists have nothing to do on explaining the diverse economic status. In these circumstances , researches cannot be limited only on the application for life , moreover ,they are more open and needed in modern society as the basic origin of common knowledge .

Meanwhile , when scientists are doing researches ,no one can guarantee what they focused on will comes the new phenomena and then some fresh conclusions can be made . Doing research is a long and challengeable process ,in which people are demanded to hold some precious character ,such as courage ,dedication ,confidence etc but ignoring the failure on the way of it. If man constrains the meaning of researches on whether they solve the practical problems are not , most of researches in the scientific field will be called stop ,which will lead to some disasters in the academic fields.

In sum , Only by combing researches that can be used in people’s life immediately and those conducted as the basic learning research ,can people really benefit from various researches.When we are looking forward to the great success by the application of novel technology ,we cannot overlook the importance of doing the basic researches ,which act as the basic work and even more crucial for people when further researches be done in the future .
