"Both parents and communities must be involved in the local schools. Education is too important to leave solely to a group of professional educators."

The statement claims that both parents and communities ought to be involved in the education of the next generation in order to alleviate the huge burden on the professional educators' shoulder, for education is too big a task to be borne by only one social group. I fundamentally agree with the assertion. At a certain life stage, parents being actively involved in the process of education are crucial to the healthy development of the children, while too much intervention to the educational institutes, on the other hand, could hinder the efficiency of education.
It's been commonly accepted that parental care and education in the early period of life plays a vital role in the development of a child, especially in the morality aspect. During the early age, one of the things that children do best is imitation, which means the behaviors of the parents, such as their manners and language, have a significant but silent effect on their kids. Thus parents are imposed with immense obligation to play a model as decent and upright as possible for their kids to imitate. Moreover, parents, being the first teacher for their children, should impart them with tradition values, nurturing their uprightness, so their kids could be ethically competent when they grow up.
While it is undeniable that parents always have profound influence on their kids' personality and ability, the process of socialization and formal education are also indispensable for the healthy growth of children, in which schools and other educational institutes unavoidably occur. The efficiency of learning could be seriously hampered when parents or communities are excessively involved. A trivial issue which required little effort to handle might invoke a tediously long discussion between parents and teachers. Most parents would regard themselves as the best equipped persons when it comes to teaching their own child, which should amount to a false delusion more often than not. Without professional training, comprehensive knowledge scope and educational experiences, most parents are not capable of determining what is truly important for their children, or what method they should adopt, or what curriculum to choose. Thus parents should grant the professional educators with more authorities when dealing these issues.

However, what I have discussed above does not mean parents should be totally left out in the education of their kids. Instead they should be cooperative and collaborative with the professional teachers. Parents should often communicate with teachers, taking advices from teachers, exchanging opinions about the development of kids, in order to better help their kids to progress and to appoint a proper goal.

To sum up, education is an essentially important task for parents, communities and professional educators. Parents are imposed with huge responsibilities when it comes to sculpturing the moral skeleton and indoctrinating them with upright value especially at early age of kids’ lives. Furthermore, parents should actively collaborate with their children’s teacher and pay constant attention to the growth of kids. However, excessive intervention to the educational institute’s autonomy could only serve to diminish the efficiency and effectiveness of education.
