Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Movies and TV programs made in one’s own country are more interesting than those made in other countries.

Personally speaking, compared with foreign TV programs, I usually watch movies and TV programs made in my own country, and I think that those programs made in China are more interesting and compelling than those made in other countries. Two basic reasons could well demonstrate my opinion.

Firstly, quite a few foreign video programs have appropriate translating editions, thus, for most audiences, who have never learned foreign languages and could only watch these translations, they usually can’t obtain those original meanings and miss those funny points behind those stiff translations. Imagine that when you were still a child, Tom and Jerry might be your favorite, it is rather funny. However, could you give any more such foreign cartoons, surely you can’t, in your childhood, the most cartoons you watched are mostly made by chinese producers. And what’s more, when you have learned english, you will surely find that the English edition of Tom and Jerry are more interesting.

Secondly, those foreign movies and TV programs originate from daily lives and values of a foreign culture, without sufficient knowledge about the foreign culture, it is really hard to understand the implication contained in either a foreign movie or TV program. Generally speaking, for those audiences who usually watch movies and TV programs, their primitive intentions are just to relax themselves, it is rather reasonable for them to choose something that are easy to understand. And I am not an except, I love to watch domestic movies and TV programs, not only I am familiar with these topics, but also because I know that, even those stories are fabricated, what they talk are something happened around me, and I am a member of the society described in these TV series.

Just as what I clarified above, I love those typical figures exist in the society in which I live, I love those familiar stories which are related to my own experience, and I love the traditional culture which underlies all those domestic movies and TV programs. That’s why I find domestic movies and TV programs are more interesting than those foreign video programs.
