WORDS: 563 TIME: 00:45:00 DATE: 2010/8/12 20:51:00
The author draws a conclusion that we haven't found a good proper way to bring up children to construct a better society, for the reason that the destiny of society is determined by how children are socialized. I strongly share the author's opinion, for the following reasons.
To begin with, there is no doubt that children are the future of society. It's obvious that every adult grows up from childhood, and as a consequence, children will be the main composition of society in future. A better society calls for better citizens. As the saying goes, men are civil creatures. Unsocialized, people will not be able to make society function well. To illustrate, the communication skills is of vital importance in modern society, which enables people to stay in touch with each other, understand each other and cooperate with each other. Unfortunately, with a heavier work load as well as life pressure, couples tend to raise less children, leading to the fact that less children having brothers or sisters, which in turn reults in children's fewer opportunities to communicate with peers. What's more, parents are too busy to take care of their children, which also diminishes children's ability to communicate. Therefore, children are becoming more and more lonely and less likely to become friends with others. We can imagine when they grow up, they would be self-centered, proud and selfish. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to survive in modern society, one that necessacitates communication skills. Our society will become a cold and lifeless one if that's the case. We can see the significance of socializing our children from what has stated above.
Nevertheless, here comes another question, what is a proper way to raise our children and make them socialized? It's indeed a question hard to answer. To be objective, we still haven't grasp a appropriate method. As we can see, nowadays, most schools place too much emphasis on students grades. What they really care is the enrollment rate of them instead of the individual development of the student. In addition, parents also focus more on whether their children could get an A or find a great job earing lots of money. We are heading towards the WRONG way. From what has been discussed above, we know it's awfully significant for children to become socialized. To provide a better education for children, paying more attention to teaching student to communicate is in need. To be specific, schools can encourage students to get envolved in more extra-curriculum activities, especially those collective ones, so as to meet more people. Moreover, schools should offer psychological classes or lectures teaching students a proper way to make friends with others and how to handle relationships. Parents ought to devote to this affair as well, by paying more attention to their children as well as offering them more chance to make friends instead of staying at home doing homework or watching TV series.
In sum, as children is the future of our society, we can't expend too much energy on cultivating them to be socialized. Since it is relevant to whole society, everybody should be engaged in this affair. Admittedly, we haven't got a proper way to raise our children to make them socialized enough, but we still have got time and chance to change this situation. In one word, more socialized children, a better and more harmonious future society. |
