If the goal is worthy, should we take any means to attain our goals?Different people hold different views. To some extent ,I agree with the speaker's broad assertion that we should take any means to achieve our goals--on the basis that the means are not illegal and when we take the means we will not hurt others’s benefits. Nevertheless (however), the speaker unnecessarily extends this general assertion to those illegal and harmful. My points of agreement and contention with the speaker involve fundamental and deep analyze ,as discussed below.
On the one hand,if the goal is worthy,it's desirable, of course, to make every effort to achieve it by proper means .Suppose that without scientists' effort (to study our world), can our technology develops so fast? Suppose that without the entreprenteurs' effort to run their companies, can our economy develops so fast? (can you use another word to replace the “fast”)Suppose that without the politician's effort to Maintaining social order, can we have a harmony society?Consider, for example,Edison who is one of the most famous inventor. He took thousands of experiments and take great pains to make the lamp ,an extremely important thing in our modern life.Without his great effort ,can we have this bright world?(we would not enjoy reading a book under a bright lamp at night) Consider another famous scientist--Nobel.We should know that when he was trying to invent the detonator he was at the risk of killing himself !Without his risking, can we have the detonator which is used to construct our buildings nowadays? Thus,it is obvious that by proper means (you did not illustrate “by proper means”),we should take any means to achieve our goals.
(All you mentioned above are about how importance these inventions are. I think you should give more exact example to illustrate how these importance inventions came out under endless efforts. )
On the other hand,we should never do illegal and harmful thing just to (only for attaining) attain our objective. If a man’s successes was arrived by illegal means, all of us will disdain him.If a man successes by doing harm to others, the victims will hate him for a long time.Do we really want to be a man like that?I think everyone's answer is "No."A case in point in this respect is that Hitler ,a man loathed by the whole world forever, just for meeting his own desire to conquer the world ,launched the Second World War ,bringing a great disaster to our world.Another example is that Van Parijs,a distinguished professor at the MIT,plagiarized the paper of his colleagues. Then he was fired from the MIT.The lesson we can draw from the two facts mentioned above is clear:Taking illegal and harmful means will not only hurt the others but also do harm to ourselves.
(I think you can further develop this paragraph)
All in all, basing my conclusion on the illustrations and expositions ,I am comfortable to say that we can take any means ,make great effort to be successful only if the goal is worthy and the means is legal without hurting others.
Hi, I think you fail to fully develop your article, only list some examples. And you should pay more attention on the space. The Space problem is vey serious once I copy your version to MW. |
