Do you agree ordisagree with the following statement?
A job with more vacation time but a lowsalary is better than a job with a high salary but less vacation time.

A view that widely accepted is that money is not the only index of personal happiness in nowadays society. Though some people may still be accustomed to only focus on how much money they can get from the job, more and more workers now begin to attach more importance to related benefits than to salary itself. As to me, I prefer to take a job with comparatively lower salary, as a trade of more vacation time, with the consideration that real happiness does not mean be wealthy rarely butincludes one’s health condition, family relationship, and diversity of life experiences.


First of all, more vacation means longer leisure time, more travelling chances, and higher sleeping quality, three vital factors that determine our health condition. A report from experts of Cambridge University mentions that, being exposed in a competitive jobmarket and high-pressure working environment in highly compartmentalizedsociety, we become easier to ignore our health problems than the past. As aresult, attribute to the lack of relax, more than 32% employees in modern companies are at the risk of occupational disease in 2010, higher than the proportion of 27% in 2008. Therefore, you’d better have enough vacation if you want to be healthy and efficient at work.


Secondly, spending more vacation time with one’s family will dramatically further the affection among family members. Man who goes shopping and travelling regularly with his wife will definitely gain the wife’s love. Correspondingly, woman who has more time spending with her children will build a better parent-child relationship. Only with theunique sweet memories that can be shared with one’s families and those greatevents they experienced together can a family be harmonious.


Thirdly, to every individual, the meaning of life lies in the diversity of life experiences while vocation provides you chances to explore it and to construct your extraordinary life. Russell, the famous British philosophy, deems highly of this lifestyle. He once said,” To be without some of the things you want is an indispensable part of happiness”. This proverb encourages us to strive for more governable time,thus we will enrich our life experience.


As mentioned above, we can conclude that salary influence our job selection, but is not the only factor we should take into consideration. If I had chance to chose from several offers, undoubtedly, I will accept the one with more vacation.
